Prime Haye vs. Current AJ

Post by Gnome »

Just for fun, who do you think would have won in a stadium match up between a prime HW Hayemaker and Joshua?

Same as before the Ruiz fight. AJ by KO.

Before Ruiz bout I'd pick Joshua to win in Wlad's fashion, just less dominant prtobably. Ruiz fight, of course, created more basis for thinking. Haye was slicker, no less powerful, than Ruiz, and could place counters well. He could catch Joshua.

Interesting fight, Haye is smaller and can be hurt, AJ struggles against speed and combinatio punching.
However styles make fights, Haye isn't the type to roll in Ruiz wise, more to counter punch using his speed. With AJ's size advantages and long arms I see Haye staying on the outside, not risking diving in and losing in a similar way he lost to Klitschow

Always thought haye would win worse type of style for AJ fast and powerful exciting fight tho, if AJ caught him he would do some damage to haye I think

AJ by KO.

Of course you're talking to the wrong guy if you're ever expecting me to give Haye credit for much of anything

He beat Povetkin, He beat Wlad, he beat Dillian Whyte, it's not like he's suddenly a bum. Could've been a combination of a lot of things, distraction due to fighting in the U.S. for the first time, lack of focus, overlooked the opponent, or just a bad style matchup. We'll see in the rematch, but I don't believe any version of Haye ever beats AJ. Maybe if you're talking about an early, under developed AJ, but if you're talking about the AJ that managed to win the Heavyweight title, there's no version of Haye that ever beats that guy. Hurts him maybe, but doesn't beat him.

The best of David Haye v Joshua in his last outing then Haye, but is that a true reflection of ‘todays Joshua’?

Haye has a weak resume at HW.

The only truly world class HW he fought, he lost to.

Haye might be quite quick, but he doesn't gamble and he doesn't attack the body like Ruiz does.

Haye just doesn't do enough to beat Joshua IMO.

AJ could handle a flush Hayemaker that’s for sure.

I think the aura AJ had has now gone. Fighters will go in knowing that they’ve got as much chance of knocking AJ out, as he has knocking them out.

AJ 2.0 needs to be ‘Black Wlad’

Good thread, I'd take Haye to knock him out.

Nah, he's a totally different body and fighter. Wlad's style wouldn't do with AJ. He's also not fluid enough or talented enough to adopt Lewis' style either.

I think the Haye that beat Chisora was blowing out his arse and ready to unravel before he landed. But it's all about opinions! I like this topic.

Haye by brutal KO. He would run for 6 rounds then pounce when AJ gasses.

There are levels, and Haye was levels above AJ. AJ doesn't fight tall, he loses concentration, squares up and comes low. A recipe for disaster vs Haye who specialised in coming underneath to load up the overhand right.

If he was forced to fight at a high pace then he didn't have great stamina. AJ seems to have a mid fight dip regardless then gets a 2nd wind. Think this would be cagey with both scared to get countered, but AJ has a little dip where he becomes reckless and hittable and his form goes and Haye steams in with the wild overhand right and catches him. AJ is no Wlad in terms of controlling range.

I am astonished at the poll. Had this been taken before Ruiz, it would have been a near shutout. AJ still beats Haye. No doubt.

It would be a decent fight until AJ did a Rockem Sockem robot on Haye.

I would rather see Haye’s face as TFKoB walked through his so called Hayemakers and beat his ass to a pulp. :OhYes:
