Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - 8 June 2019
Charles Conwell went 10 rounds for the first time in his career Saturday night to take the next step in his development.
The 21-year-old junior middleweight prospect pressured Courtney Pennington throughout their bout, consistently landed to Pennington’s body and pounded out a unanimous-decision victory at Madison Square Garden. Judges Mark Consentino (97-92), Ken Ezzo (97-92) and Alan Rubinstein (96-93) scored their fight for Cleveland’s Conwell on the Gennadiy Golovkin-Steve Rolls undercard.
Conwell, a 2016 U.S. Olympian, improved to 10-0. Brooklyn’s Pennington (12-4-3, 5 KOs) has not lost by knockout since the 32-year-old veteran turned pro in August 2012.

Israil Madrimov TKO win in round 6, Gonzalez was taking serious punishment there before the ref stepped in. Madrimov looks a talent, throws with bad intentions!

Golovkin looked good. He took a few shots, but remained composed.
Surprisingly, Rolls seemed to be handling Golovkins power quite well early doors. He seemingly became overconfident and succumbed to Golovkins power.
Golovkin broke him down nicely. Beautiful body shots from the off.
Anyone catch Ali Akhmedov? Looks a good prospect.

Reminded me of Julio cesar Chavez, that. The way he switches up close just to get a big shot off. Big orthodox left, big southpaw cross. Not everyone can do that.
Would love to see him rematch Canelo and win. Don’t think it’s gonna happen like that though.

Only seen highlights but looked like Rolls let his hands go and landed some leather but cracking KO from Golovkin in the end

Hearn explained why no UK broadcast. Didn’t really make much sense.

I stayed up and streamed it. Had GGG inside 3 and he blitzes him at start of r4handsofstone wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 04:35 Only seen highlights but looked like Rolls let his hands go and landed some leather but cracking KO from Golovkin in the end
Golovkin used that same shot he did vs Rubio. Corkscrew left hand that comes down on Rolls scalp, splitting the card. Never seen any fighter other than Golovkin throw that, and I'm not entirely sure it's legal tbh.

Why not? It's just a punch from a different angle.Ricky wrote: ↑10 Jun 2019, 09:26 I stayed up and streamed it. Had GGG inside 3 and he blitzes him at start of r4![]()

Aye I noticed that mate, cracking shot if you can get away with it, as long as it doesn't land on top of the head and comes down on the chin I cant see anything wrong with it , it certainly registers on opponents, the finishing shot was a cracker as wellRicky wrote: ↑10 Jun 2019, 09:26 I stayed up and streamed it. If you look where the knuckle part lands, it's very high on top of the head, some people would constitute that as back of the head.

Not a great matchup. When they pick an opponent so they can use his name as a present tense verb, during promotion, is very disappointing.
