Headlining the show, local hero Mairis Briedis faces Poland’s Krzysztof Glowacki that will now come with two major titles at stake in addition to a trip to the WBSS finals. Briedis weighed a near-career low 198.1 pounds, while the always fighting trim Glowacki tipped the scales at 197.5 pounds.

Must have been a bit of a porker at SHW as Amateur. I see he lost to price there.dagilechia wrote: ↑14 Jun 2019, 14:06 G

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/b ... of-3493710 i have mistaken tournaments, they fought in Italy, the tournament i meant if im not wrong again Szpilka lost to Bellew and Glowacki's brother fought some Brit as well
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight (1/2 Final): Mairis Briedis vs. Krzysztof Glowacki - June 15, 2019
glow had no business being at hw, hes not even big for cruiser, only 6 feet and last fight he was only 196. the old limit of 190 would probably be 'natural' for him
anyway, i hope glowacki wins, he has a much nice style then briedis and to me has been underrated. was super sharp in outclassing vlasov. did tire a bit late, but more in a 'gave it all' way and not in a premature gassing way

Also, Krzysztof's brother, Jacek, at amateurs fought Marco Huck. Huck was fouling a lot, Krzysztof got so angry that he wanted to fight Huck himself, he threw a chair at Huck but didn't get to him, he got stopped by some people

While not revealing the exact details, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has withdraw the organization's sanction from Saturday's World Boxing Super Series semi-final bout between Krysztof Glowacki and Mairis Briedis, which takes place in Latvia.
"WBC withdraws it’s sanctioning of the Briedis vs Glowacki fight. The administrators of the World Boxing Super Series tournament have failed to maintain the integrity of the bout, and have disregarded the WBC rules and regulations," Sulaiman stated.
"The WBC strongly rejects the unfortunate discrimination and abuse of power that has been directed against the integrity of our institution. The WBC will evaluate its continuing participation in the remaining WBSS bouts in Season II, and will announce its decision soon."

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight (1/2 Final): Mairis Briedis vs. Krzysztof Glowacki - June 15, 2019
BS.com has since learned that the overnight drama stems from a dispute between the sanctioning bodies over the officials being assigned for the contest.
“The events taking place between the WBO and WBC taking place in the sanctioning of the great fight has taken a very complicated twist between the parties,” Kalle Sauerland, chief boxing officer for tournament promoter Comosa AG told BS.com on Saturday. “The argument is over who gets to provide what judges. They are trying to decide the judges and the referee - the three judges and the fourth in the event of a draw.
“The positions between the parties is currently trying to find a solution between them all. Really, this is a matter between the WBO and the WBC.”
With any given a title at stake comes the assignment of ring officials, be it from the presiding commission or sanctioning body. In the event of unification bouts, the alphabet organizations normally hash out whose officials are used, which in the past has led to complications but rarely to the point of a governing body threatening to withdraw its sanctioning from a fight.
“We are happy to serve as a mediator but I guess everyone is just stuck in the middle until this is sorted out,” notes Sauerland.
WBC representatives declined comment to BS.com other than to confirm its belt is no longer at stake, as the matter could ultimately result in legal action being taken.
“It would be a shame if (Briedis-Glowacki) is not for both belts,” notes Sauerland, who is doing his best to mediate between the sanctioning bodies as to allow proper focus back on the fights and not what’s at stake. “In the end, though, the WBSS is about winning the Ali Trophy. We of course welcome the opportunity to work with all the federations and all the belts.
“It would be a shame, especially when we are trying to make things simple in boxing where there are too many world champions. It’s a shame when we have a fight which deserves both belts that something like this happens. We are hopeful that the WBO and WBC are able to find a solution… but ultimately it is a question of two federations which go under the unified rules of boxing.”
“Ultimately, the biggest loser is the sport of boxing,” Sauerland said of the sanctioning body mess. “It makes everything once again more complicated for the fans as the World Boxing Super Series is trying hard to provide clarity.”

Sulaiman's feelings got hurt again. Why should boxing be dependent on menopaused individuals like him?
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight (1/2 Final): Mairis Briedis vs. Krzysztof Glowacki - June 15, 2019
WBSS has been a breath of fresh air for boxing and this smacks of Suilaman not liking being completely in charge and throwing his toys out of his pram. Between this and the debacle with Dillian Whyte he is beginning to lose all credibility and seems to have only his and the WBCs interests at heart rather than boxings. I suppose the really sad thing is that it still makes news because in our hearts we've all known it forever
