Evgeny Romanov vs Ariel Esteban Bracamonte

Post by DrDuke »

Evgeny Romanov, who is mostly known for knocking Deontay Wilder out in the amateurs, has just defeated Ariel Esteban Bracamonte in Ekaterinburg, Russia, in Kudryashov - Makabu undercard.

Bracamonte is probably mostly known for giving a tough fight for David Allen last year.

This fight was tough as well. Romanov knocked Bracamonte down in the 1st, but in the next rounds Bracamonte was fighting back well. In the 5th Bracamonte gave Romanov a little bit of hell, but in the next round Romanov came back and Bracamonte had no success afterwards.

All three judges scored 99-90 for Romanov, but I had it 97-92 for him.

Romanov now is 13-0, 9 KOs. The guy still have a lot of work to do.

Hopefully he'll get a step up now. He's not young...

On another note, Bracamonte seems to turn up as a challenger and is no pushover. I'd like to see him against more untested opponents to see if he can rough them up a bit.

I don't believe, that Romanov will become a major player. We'll see, but it's not likely right now. He has almost nothing despite decent power.

Even so, it would be good to know his level before he deteriorates due to age. Worse boxers have achieved more with power and less skill in my opinion.
