He received practically same $$ vs Wilder.
So, if someone pay you same money for 2 rounds with punching bag, why risk your brain against someone that dropped you twice-)))

I'm truly mystified by some of these payoffs that Boxers get sometimes. No way in hell the promoters didn't lose at least 10 Million dollars on this event by paying Fury that much. It wasn't a sold out crowd, very few people seemed to have any interest in it. How could it possibly have generated anywhere near enough money to justify paying Fury all that? Let alone everyone else on the card.

I honestly don't even see how people can be Boxing promoters these days. It's like you have to have multiple billions of disposable money to be able to throw away first to even get started.

Pulev can be a good opponent.

Even maybe he can bring Manuel Charr out of retirement and get joyful win.

Good money if you can get it. This is Fury's time now - he's at his boxing peak, extremely well connected, popular, great at selling a fight. Why wouldn't he make the most of it.

Just that he gives to charity, but doesn’t want a pat on the back or use it for publicity.

He said that when he was at his lowest, very few people were there for him, so he wants to give back to those that were in a similar situation than he was in.

Could Tyson Fury’s purse be joint-funded by ESPN & BT (via Top Rank and Queensberry Promotions), with Tom Schwarz receiving a pittance in comparison to the Brits’ payday?

Is it also likely that the relatively recent introductions of streaming services, such as DAZN and ESPN, coupled with Fox and the relatively recent launch of the PBC, has driven fighter purses upwards, because they’ll always be tempted to go the highest bidder.

It might also be possible that promoters and TV networks have always underpaid boxers, but the recent changes to the market conditions, means that they’re no longer able to get away with this.

We’ve seen a similar phenomenon in the UK, whereby BT’s introduction into the football market (soccer to those from the US) has driven the Premier League license fee upwards to stratospheric levels, despite audience viewing figures remaining static.

Finally, Top Rank and Queensberry might be focussing on the big picture instead of Fury’s purse per individual bout, since it’s feasible their deal with him could result in minor fiscal losses when Tyson faces unheralded opponents’, but huge gains when he eventually faces the likes of Wilder and Joshua.

Regardless, fight fans will always be confused about the reasoning behind certain decisions, but this is because none of us are in possession of all the facts. There’s no way that Tyson would have been paid $13.5m without ESPN and other interested parties ultimately receiving a significant return on their investment.

But, it is a global market and not only UK, US or German fans are watching.

Makes some since that way.
