Very few boxers are overpaid, actually.
Just look at the undercards payments!

The main card fighters is what I'm speaking of. More power to them, they risk their lives; but that's what killed the sport in the States.

I have no idea why anyone would pay for that match up.

Because it's $5 a month for that, UFC, many more fights and other sports content. It's excellent.

Don’t all the boxers on the card risk their lives? Fair enough ppl mostly pay PPV for the main event. The undercard is a bonus.

Of course they do. How in the world would you read that exchange and come up with that? I was simply responding to someone who thought I meant 4 Rd fighters are overpaid.

I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong but the first time I ever put aside my objection on principle to paying for PPV, it was the Joshua v Molina fight which quite frankly I would not have paid £1 to watch.

What made it unmissable for me was Whyte v Chisora I on the undercard as chief support. I do tend to look at the whole bill before deciding whether to part with my money. I don't know if I'm typical or unusual in that respect.

Unfortunately none of my friends and family are even casual boxing fans so paying £20 just for me seems a bit self-indulgent, especially since I generally get to see the fights that appeal to me the next day, mostly without knowing the result

You're definitely right. There are some fights where it alone is big enough to sell on it's own. How many of the 4.6m households that bought May-Pac you reckon bout it to see Lomachenko on the undercard? That make sense?

It's mostly Matchroom cards, or let's use Warrington-Frampton as an example. Very good fight, but it needed that undercard to help sell it even further.

Many Matchroom cards have been like this.

The Brook-Gavin PPV? Whyte-Joshua PPV had a stacked undercard.

Most time, you needs a good co-feature bout.

Yeah. At least one other that's likely to pull 'em in.

It's the exact opposite in the States. Maybe because they're so much more expensive. Heck, a really good undercard plays out to an empty arena.

Yeah I'll never understand that. I've always got really annoyed by people interrupting my enjoyment of a fight as they arrive late and you have to let them walk in front of you to get to their seat.

I remember watching Leonard v Hearns in 81 (Live feed at a London cinema, Vegas was well beyond my means back then) when having been asked to move several times, I'm thinking these idiots have already paid for their tickets but they aren't remotely interested in watching Edwin Rosario yet give it a few years he'll be headlining and you'll be paying to watch him :witzend:

He never made it as big as I thought he would at that time but he was a very fine fighter all the same.
