Ted Cheeseman To Return, York Hall

‘The Big Cheese’ will box on a JDNXTGEN card at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside.

A win for Cheeseman will line-up another defence of his Lonsdale belt against current WBA International champion at the weight Scott Fitzgerald.



Craig Richards will face Andre Sterling on the card at York Hall, while it is expected that Shannon Courtenay, Charles Frankham – who will debut on May 10 at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham – and Commonwealth middleweight champion Felix Cash will also feature among others.

he got dropped by a 2-20 guy a few fights ago, though tbf from a look at his record he seems like overall a decent opponent for benn. and hes fought at 147 and 154 regularly so not a midget coming up

no real notable wins, but lost a split to sammy vargas , won some rounds vs minoume and some other ebu-ish types. challenged for ebu vs bundu though got stopped in 9. good experience.

if benn totally mugged him it would be a good result

Benn (14-0, 9 KOs) follows in the footsteps of his father Nigel, a former two-weight World champion, who headlined against Robbie Sims at the famous East London venue back in 1991, and ‘The Destroyer’ is promising to deliver another explosive performance when he meets the 24-6-1 Fin over ten rounds.

“It isn’t going to get much worse than the first Peynaud fight, that was an absolute nightmare. It was scarring. Appreciated. So a step up from Paynard, and with more experience. The Vargas result is pretty decent. I didn't see that one, but all the fights I've seen of Sammy, he gives it a jolly good go despite his 'limitations' that have prevented career advancement.

She did win couple of local amateur titles - I doubt Booth would take her in his gym if she wasn’t decent - he doesn’t usually keep huge amount of fighters.

Conor Benn displayed his imposing physique at a bad-tempered JD NXTGEN weigh-in as Joshua Buatsi was involved in a backstage bust-up.

The unbeaten welterweight comfortably made the limit, coming in at 10st 6lbs 2oz, but opponent Jussi Koivula had to return to the scales after he was marginally over 10st 7lbs for Friday's bill-topping fight at York Hall in Bethnal Green, live on Sky Sports.

Tempers had flared when Buatsi crossed paths with light-heavyweight rival Andre Sterling, who also exchanged heated words with Craig Richards as they faced off in front of the cameras.

Richards was slightly heavier at 12st 6lbs 4oz, while Sterling was also inside the limit at 12st 5lbs 3oz.

Ted Cheeseman appeared in peak condition at 10st 12lbs 7oz ahead of his British super-welterweight title defence against Kieron Conway, who came in at 10st 13lbs 4oz.

Shannon Courtenay also returns to action, weighing in at 8st 8lbs 7oz, and Charles Frankham tipped the scales at 9st 9lbs for his second professional fight.
