Denis Lebedev vs. Arsen Goulamirian - TBA

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The World Boxing Association (WBA) purse bid between Denis Lebedev and Arsen Goulamirian, due to be held on June 20th, was suspended because both sides reached an agreement to finalize the fight.

The dispute between the 200-pound super champion, a native of Russia, and the regular champion, of French nationality but born in Armenia, was scheduled about a month ago.
However, the teams communicated with the WBA sanctioning body organization to inform that the fight will take place due to everything being arranged.

The details of the date, place, and conditions of the negotiations will be announced in the coming weeks once everything is perfectly finalized. Lebedev-Goulamirian is one of the most interesting matches the division can offer today.

Lebedev will make the third defense of his belt against an undefeated champion like the Frenchman in a clash of power vs power. Lebedev has 32 wins, 2 losses, and 23 knockouts. For his part, Goulamirian has 24 wins, no losses, and 16 knockouts.

The actions of WBA in relation to Lebedev are disgusting.

Lebedev is very much past his prime but we still don't know too much about Goulamirian, He was supposed to fight Masternak but Denis is gonna be a decent test as well. I think that Arsen will win by 116-112 type of decision. He is a strong fighter, though seems a bit raw.

I thought the Lebedev-Okolie fight broke down because Leb was about to retire?

That is what Hearn said. in fact, he probably rejected this offer due to financial reasons, that's it.

The team behind Russian boxer Denis Lebedev have been unable to reach an agreement with Arsen Goulamirian according to promotional company World of Boxing.

Earlier in June, the World Boxing Association (WBA) announced that the winner of the WBA (Super) belt in the cruiserweight division, Lebedev, had agreed to have a mandatory fight with the WBA's "regular" champion of the weight class, Gulamiryan.

“We negotiated with the team of Goulamirian, but in the end the conditions of the French side were unacceptable, as the financial terms that were offered by them were significantly lower than the level of money that Denis has received in the past, even for his non-title fights,” said Russian manager Vadim Kornilov.

"We'd like to hold this fight in Russia, but the time frame set [by the sanctioning body] has limited this opportunity."

But they’re trying to make the fight aren’t they?

Not Leb’s fault.
Might just call a purse bid.

It was June 20th, but they cancelled it because they agreed a deal.

Was awarded the title after the champ had vacated it. Then retired and vacated it himself. The best reign ever.

So does that leave us with Goulamirian Vs Egorov/Merhy/Okolie for the full title?
