I can’t even imagine believing that Whyte is the best heavyweight in the world. It might actually be a completely unique opinion

But they have got them advantages you can't just take them away from the fighter because it makes your opinion more valid. I disagree with you on them being more skilled than them as well. Fury is the best boxer out of the lot of them.Ricky wrote: ↑05 Jun 2019, 14:33 Wilder Fury and AN are freak shows getting by on crazy physical advantages. Ruiz Parker and Whyte are significantly more skilled than they 3. Usyk again is another level up. Make excsuses all you like about Whytes wins, fact is, he won the Parker and Chisora fights legitimately despite your efforts to devalue them. I'd pick him to win a close decision vs the man with the 3 belts too.
Credit where it's due and he did win the 2nd fight against Chisora ( I had Chisora winning by a couple in the first fight) and he got the win against Parker even if I have picked holes in both. Whytes a proper fighting man and will go in against anyone but there is no way he's best in the division

That would have been a great Saturday Fight Night card. Not sure how it'll do as a ppv as I don't know if Whyte has a big following.

Is there a chance Whyte could balls this fight up? I mean that he has been mandatory for ages, not been given his shot, although if he wins it should be there for him this time. I just feel that he is destined to be a nearly man.

I meant to say he should have been by now. I guess you think he is gonna win against Rivas in that case?

Na. I think it's 50-50 fight. Not writing Rivas off.Roars Like Me wrote: ↑17 Jun 2019, 03:27 I meant to say he should have been by now. I guess you think he is gonna win against Rivas in that case?
Just because someone hasn't always fought the best opposition fought a name opponent, people feel they don't have what it takes.
Every boxer at some point will always have their FIRST BIG FIGHT.
Obviously, Rivas has just beaten Jennings.
If Whyte doesn't become WBC mandatory, he will surely become WBO's.

Quite possible.
Whyte's not the best HW out there... With HW's, anything can happen.

Dillian Whyte vs Oscar Rivas likely to be sanctioned for WBC interim title
WBC number one heavyweight contender Dillian ‘The Body Snatcher’ Whyte 25-1 (18) could be competing for the interim world title when he takes on WBC number 10 Oscar ‘Kaboom’ Rivas 26-0 (18) at London’s O2 Arena on July 20 live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has been lobbying the Mexican sanctioning body to put the title on the line for Whyte, who has been the leading contender to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder 41-0-1 (40) for well over a year-and-a-half.
“We’re getting there, it’s very important that this is solved this week,” Hearn exclusively told Sky Sports.
“We know that the interim world title fight and mandatory position is there, it’s just when, when does that mandatory happen?
“We will fight tooth and nail for Dillian Whyte on this. This week, it will be 600 days that he has been WBC No.1, it’s incredible, he deserves justice.
“We are right now on the brink of making that happen. All we’ve got to do is just confirm some very fair points and we can get rid of this whole mess and everyone can move on with their lives.
“It’s very, very likely that the Rivas fight will be a final eliminator and for an interim world title.”
While the news would appear to put a world title shot against Wilder within reach, the 31-year-old Whyte insists his focus is solely on undefeated Colombian Rivas, 32.
“I’m not even thinking about that, I’m thinking only of Oscar Rivas,” Whyte said in a previous interview with Sky Sports.
“You can’t make the mistake of overlooking fighters and trying to make big fights.
“It’s like a world title fight for these guys facing me, so I can’t be thinking about the world title when for these guys this is their world title fight.
“I’m as focused and dedicated to Rivas as I will be when I fight for the title. I’m completely zoned in and locked in with him. I’m just thinking about destroying Oscar Rivas on July 20.”

Haye went toe-to-toe with Chis and never lost a roundRicky wrote: ↑05 Jun 2019, 12:17 The fights with Del were box office, Whyte could've boxed and moved if he wanted, he's quickier and rangier, but going toe-to-toe builds a fan base and he had Del's number anyway.
His performance vs Parker was sensational for 11 rounds and the bomb he dropped him with was unreal. For me, Parker vs Whyte was fight of the year. And let's not underrate Parker, he's top 6 or so himself.

Chisora was better then than he was last year.
Fury beat Chisora near peak.
If you're a good HW, you should be able to dispatch Chisora with with of ease.

Bookies have Whyte a huge favourite - Rivas is 4-1. Somewhat surprised by that. Thought the odds would be much closer.

Someone out there will be putting big money and Rivas and getting a nice bonus.

Yeah true, I mean I like Whyte and the KO was sensational, no one's left him flat out like that (not even Haye) but I would be more impressed if he won every single round, like Fury did (although Chisora was apparently ill then but anyways)Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 Jun 2019, 05:52 Chisora was better then than he was last year.

Just proves really the gap between 1, 2 and 5 in the world. Whyte is miles behind Fury and doesn't have the one punch powerful to potentially starch Fury like Wilder does

Why are the bookies so dumb when it comes to boxing? They unanimously had Eubank beating Groves. I said all along that was a comfortable win for GGRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 Jun 2019, 06:31 Underestimating Rivas.

The bookies change their odds depending on the bets coming in so the bigger name always has the odds slightly towards them as not all bettors know that much about boxing.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑20 Jun 2019, 08:39 Why are the bookies so dumb when it comes to boxing? How many casual British boxing fans will know that Rivas just beat Jennings or that he had very good amateur credentials?
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Oscar Rivas - 20 July 2019
They odds are short, I wouldn't back Rivas at anything like that price. 10/1 i might be interested.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 Jun 2019, 06:31 Underestimating Rivas.

Rivas also struggled against Jennings as well it’s worth remembering ?joshj909 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2019, 09:00 The bookies change their odds depending on the bets coming in so the bigger name always has the odds slightly towards them as not all bettors know that much about boxing.

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Oscar Rivas - 20 July 2019
He won non-contentiously, up on the cards and by KO. Might not be the best performance but he still did it.
And i wasn't saying it should make him favourite or anything, but Jennings is a pretty good scalp when you look at the matchups that most top guys take these days, and alot of casual boxing fans won't be aware of that, therefore skewing the odds.
