Did any boxing expert or newspaper predict a Ruiz win over Joshua?
I know one newspaper journalist predicted that Buster Douglas would beat Mike Tyson but did any current pundits predict that Ruiz would beat AJ?
Re: Did any boxing expert or newspaper predict a Ruiz win over Joshua?
Does Ruthless RKO qualify? He predicted the winner and that it'd be by KO so it's hard to argue with success.
Guess you meant mainstream though, rather than we boxing nerds on an Internet forum. Can't help you in that case.

There’s (almost) always one, although I can’t name one.

I think we're all borderline experts here.

Loads of people from the Mayweather gym predicted a victory for Andy Ruiz Jr. Watch their YouTube channel and you'll see a list of names that predicted a victory for the Mexican.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Jun 2019, 05:42 I know one newspaper journalist predicted that Buster Douglas would beat Mike Tyson but did any current pundits predict that Ruiz would beat AJ?
I also read the following:
Sergio Michel (American singer):
"I once saw Andy Ruiz Jr. obliterate a friend of mine, a much taller man, in three rounds by sheer attrition.
If Andy Ruiz goes in there being himself, he beats Joshua by the same road. If Ruiz tries to "look good" and box like he did vs Parker, he loses to Joshua. Ruiz has Donkey Killers in both hands; all he has to do is go forward and swing, and Joshua is out of there quick. If Ruiz decides to box, Joshua wins easy.
Joshua's weak chin is tailor-made for a mega puncher like Ruiz, who's lack of conditioning is tailor-made...
To be fair, many boxing insiders expected Ruiz Jr. to be a tough foe for AJ for at least six rounds. Most thought he was better than Miller.

Sure there will always be people getting it right, especially people who have loyalties towards a fighter. It's a two horse race at the end of the day but I was after actual professional pundits, people who are boxing journalists or TV experts. My mate told me Ruiz would win by KO within 6 rounds, I laughed in his faceEnlightened-One wrote: ↑21 Jun 2019, 06:43 Loads of people from the Mayweather gym predicted a victory for Andy Ruiz Jr. Watch their YouTube channel and you'll see a list of names that predicted a victory for the Mexican.

Fair enough, I thought that citing the predictions of boxing insiders, such as fellow pros and trainers, as well as a musician may have counted.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Jun 2019, 06:52 Sure there will always be people getting it right, especially people who have loyalties towards a fighter. Yeah, he followed Douglas for much of his career and said he could see Douglas was fit, focused and determined in the run up to the fight, and there were a lot of stories that Tyson was looking in poor condition and not training. He was the only newspaper journalist to predict an upset.

One thing I remember is on the Tyson/spinks undercard he finished Mike Williams with the same straight left. Awesome night, but I was pissed because I knew evander was going to kick Mike's ass.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Jun 2019, 09:14 Yeah, he followed Douglas for much of his career and said he could see Douglas was fit, focused and determined in the run up to the fight, and there were a lot of stories that Tyson was looking in poor condition and not training. Does a Mexican singer really count though as a boxing journo or insider?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑21 Jun 2019, 06:43 Loads of people from the Mayweather gym predicted a victory for Andy Ruiz Jr. Watch their YouTube channel and you'll see a list of names that predicted a victory for the Mexican.

..there's a joke I heard from my granma a loooong time ago: In this jewish family there were 2 very smart boys who could among other things predict weather..if one of the young men was saying it would be cold next day, the other one predicted it would be warm...there was ALWAYS someone who was right...so much for the predictions of any kind

Talk about nit-picking!
I posted a prediction that I found rather interesting and quite accurate, which was from a self-confessed hard-core boxing aficionado, regardless of them being a musician by trade.
To be fair, he is kind of an “insider”, because the person who he referred to being obliterated by Andy Ruiz Jr., was actually his friend.

Has Buncey not tried to claim he called it right yet?

I think the reference was a boxing journalist or a boxing professional of some description
Not some mate who is a singer

Re: Did any boxing expert or newspaper predict a Ruiz win over Joshua?
On social media thousands predicted that Ruiz would be the next heavyweight champion. Most had Latino names.
So a Mexican singer forecasting the outcome isn't really a biggie. Maybe just supporting his own.
And besides, Sergio Michel's prediction was loaded with qualifiers: If Ruiz does this, he'll win. If Ruiz does that, he loses.
Sort of like a gambler wagering on both sides to offset potential losses. Does that really count as an accurate prediction?

And I also provided several boxing insiders as well, as per the Mayweather gym.
It seems you’re trying to undermine everything I’ve written by challenging one trivial point.
Be honest and comment on the entirety of my sentiments.

Here’s a novel idea, why don’t you follow mu previous advice and go to the Mayweather YouTube channel and see for yourself.
What’s wrong with you today? You keep arguing with me about things when you’ve not researched and you’re unwilling to even consider educating yourself.
You have an opinion on everything but you have so many knowledge gaps.
