I have read several biographies about him. Have never read a word of this.

I wonder if he called her a puta?

Yea, Duran is unfairly maligned; I'd let him baby sit my grand children.
The guy was borderline psychotic. There is example after example of him acting horribly. Wouldn't let my kids anywhere near him.

Think I have referenced him before in other threads.....

…….but Naz Hamed sold a whole pile of tickets and Sky packages to people who wanted to see him get sparked-out cold and frankly humiliated. And considering his ring success it was interesting that so many Brit fans wanted that outcome.

Naz played the villain-braggard brilliantly - it got him coverage, got him fights and the bank loved him too - and I always felt it was a deliberate strategy on his team's part to make sure a wee fighter got paid like a fella from a bigger division.

With hindsight - I am fairly sure that Naz "played" a great marketing card as the big mouth and that was sufficiently unusual for a Brit fighter and paid dividends -but at the time I wanted to see the likes of Paul Irwin find the punch of a lifetime and see Hamed served a massive helping on humble pie.

Guess the Naz playbook worked

I don't hate anyone and certainly not a boxer I have never met. The only people I want to see lose are drug cheats.

Fair point as always Keith, :salut:

But we should not ignore the fact that certain fighters have played the proverbial game in the past and willingly courted unpopularity by behaving like bell-ends to sell tickets and fight subscriptions. Being the villain can pay the bills.

Hamed should have got an Equity card for his dramatic performances and old Joe Bugner - who was never a bad guy - sold out White Hart Lane for him and Frank Bruno with some panto baddie stuff which even made him giggle.

Having said that.....Broner seemed serious about the garbage he produced and Eubank was often downright odd and very cynical and not in a good way
