I think it was a decent win that guy has been in with a couple of decent opponents.
Benn is either getting better or very shrewdly matched well. Whatever the answer he's getting the wins and moving forward. He's very much like his dad in some ways.

Benn looked hopelessly out of depth.
Like a kid off the street about to get marmalized by the old pro who'd forgotten more than he'd ever learn...,
Then Benn went for him, staggered him and finished him.
It was a really brilliant bad performance.
He may never learn enough, but he's got the "can'tteachables" in spades.

Exciting stuff again from Benn I love watching him i'll be honest, Koivula is no world beater but that's still a career best win from Benn by a mile, Koivula gave him a going over in the 1st, he's far too easy too hit even on the outside but leaves himself even more wide open by trying to trade, I genuinely thought he'd come unstuck after the opener, Koivula was jabbing him and hit him with some big right hands
Big shock to see Benn wobble him for the first knockdown, left hook counter delayed reaction from Koivula, after that Benn was class, great finishing , landing both hands for the second KD and the ref got the stoppage just right, Benn nailed Koivula with a big shot right before the ref stepped in
Benn still vulnerable as ever, plenty to work on but that's respectable win

Defo a KO waiting to happen but it'll be fun while it lasts

Old school - usually Contests for amateurs and Fights for pros
Listen to Richie Woodhall as he often uses the term Contest

I'm surprised how crude benns opponent looked. He's been in with some good fighters but he looked novice like to me, just came forward without any thought to his work. He was throwing right hands leaving his chin out. Really surprised just how poor he looked. Even in the 1st when he was bossing it I thought it was a joke

Maybe Hearn paid him to box like a novice.smiling assassin wrote: ↑22 Jun 2019, 02:31 I'm surprised how crude benns opponent looked. What did everyone think of OJ3?
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN - 21 June 2019
Cheeseman might just have found his level at British - not everyone can be Euro/World level.
Cheeseman will end up in trilogy fights with Fitz/Fowler - these guys will end up fighting each other several times.

Definitely. Fitz and Fowler will probably rematch. May even if they both make it to Euro level.
And IF and ONLY IF, they make it to World level, they will fight their too.
Ted will be left behind eventually.
A few months ago, I thought only Fowler would end up at World level. TBH, I won't be surprised if non of them do.

I think the loss might help Fowler longer term.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑22 Jun 2019, 06:27 Definitely. Fitz and Fowler will probably rematch. May even if they both make it to Euro level.

Cheeseman on last few shows won’t do much better than British / Fringe Euro - that coming forward and trying to walk through people doesn’t work the higher you go as Garcia showed him.
I think Fowler would beat Fitz in rematch but Cheese v Fitz could end up a slug fest.
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN - 21 June 2019
I had Cheeseman by 2 but no real problem with the draw.
Looks a tidy boxer Conway, just slowed down a bit down the stretch.
Cheeseman vs Fitz next should be a good fight, Fitz will probably be favourite.
Could see Conway going further than Cheeseman in the long run, a more rounded fighter, just worry whether he has the power to hang at a higher level.

Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN - 21 June 2019
I think either Fowler or Fitzgerald would give Cheeseman an absolute pasting, he's going nowhere.
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN - 21 June 2019
He must have sparred in Booth’s gym - he commented how he had some lovely boxing skills but lacked any power in his shots - when he said that I thought Ted wouldn’t respect him and just keep walking forward and that’s exactly what he did predictably.keirw wrote: ↑22 Jun 2019, 09:16 I had Cheeseman by 2 but no real problem with the draw.
