Fury Scwarz comps 1,187 tix out of the 9,012 in attendance

Post by oogiebe »

So out of the 9,012 in attendance, 1,187 were comped. That is a complete failure and over hype of Fury's alleged popularity in America. As I've said before, no one cares about Fury here in the states. Maybe if he fought a contender.

R-RKO offered us a thread on this earlier in the day.

Apparently the official paid attendance as reported by NSAC was only about 5400.

Sometimes (LOL) promoters fudge a wee bit when announcing attendance figures. So Uncle Bob may have been lying about 9012 being in the MGM arena.

He also forgot to mention the 1200 comps.

But you're right. People won't pay premium ticket prices to be fed crap.

But I can't understand why so many Brits felt obliged to do so. They made the bulk of the 6600 "crammed" into the arena.

Casuals only care where names are fighting names. Even at heavyweight.

1000+ comps is pretty common when fights do over 5k

another recent big hw fight had some sources claiming multiple thousands of comps

ESPN are loaded! They make plenty of money with ads and sponsors etc. Before TR partnered with ESPN, they were only showing Golden Boy prospect cards.

ESPN will want to make profit on this deal. It's highly unlikely though.

There were more complimentary tickets given away for the Wilder-Breazeale bout. Apparently 7K's worth of the 13,181 attendance for that fight were freebies.

Every fight card issues plenty comps.

Especially in Las Vegas to lure the gamblers.

Last year in Los Angeles there were various promotions on radio and the media giving away freebies for the Wilder-Fury bout.

One event that received a lot of publicity was Wilder and Fury going around to public safety organizations and distributing blocks of tickets.

Probably every major fight card has several thousand comps in the house.

Here there were only about 1200 comps but it appears that there were just 6600 total fans in attendance. So nearly 20% didn't have to pay.

Good point. Fury is trickier and slippier than his great mate 'uncle' Bob.

Inside and outside the ring. Would you consider buying a car off either of them?

The real surprise is that there were only 1000 odd comps in Vegas. I'd imagine it's a lot more than that usually.

The bigger the fight the more comps to bring in the serious gamblers.

If Fury fights a decent opponent in Vegas I'd expect a lot more freebies

ya 1000 really isnt particularly high for the comp game. from past threads that made me look at fight attendence, almost any card in the us where its 5k or more in attendence you start to get up there for like 1k or more comps

i did see on a few sites like eo that wilder-breazeale did like 6-7k comps but that seems too high
