I would include Amir Khan in the top ten despite his short career. He would be olympic champ if not for the great Kindelan.
I think Julio Gonzalez and Marco Rudolph are overrated. Gonzalez hurt his standings by losing at two olympics. Howard Davis could be higher, he won the Val Barker Trophy in olympics full with great boxers.

My list:
1. Mario Kindelan
2. Pernell Whitaker
3. Howard Davis Jr
4. Oscar De La Hoya
5. Angel Herrera
6. Andreas Zulow
7. Adolfo Horta
8. Amir Khan
9. Julio Gonzalez
10. Leonard Doroftei

Yeah, you're right. McTaggart must be included. Probably in the top five.

I held Khan back, because being British I did not want to overrate him,he is a great boxer and did beat Mario in something of an exhibition bout, and is a certainty, barring accidents, of a pro world title.Dick Mctaggart was an idol of mine, the rat catcher, his job, refused to turn pro, was on British television all the time and was never outboxed.Again am I the victim of being negative about my own nations boxers.

To explain my thinking-Rudolph did beat Oscar,Gonzalez,Grigoryan although he did also suffer reverses--Gonzalez would probably have won in Seoul--Doroftei did lose twice to Soltani, and Grigoryan and Urkal---Davis should be higher,my mistake

Since we opened this again this is my top 10

Mario Kindelan (CUB)
Angel Herrera (CUB)
Jozef Grudzien (POL)
Pernell Whitaker (USA)
Julio Gonzales (CUB)
Andreas Zuelow (GER)
Howard Davis (USA)
Simion Cutov (ROM)
Harry Spanger (USA)
Marco Rudolph (GER)

Richard McTaggart (GBR) is ranked 12th and while Khan was good he is no great all time Amateur, he is just fresh in your mind and is ranked 37th on my list.
