RIP Willie “The Worm” Monroe

Post by JMac »

Willie passed away this morning at 70..
His best win was over Marvin Hagler. He was one of the great Philly middleweights of the 70’s.

Another link to a great era in 1970s and Philadelphia boxing is gone.

Monroe, Boogaloo Watts, Bad Bennie Briscoe, Cyclone Hart. Total excitement when these men climbed into the ring.

Monroe was such a cagey guy. His win over Hagler was legit. No hometown decision in that one. He just outboxed Hagler.

Toll the 10 count for another of boxing's fallen warriors, Willie "The Worm" Monroe.
