Quartey by KO early. 3rd or 4th round
Re: Welterweights : Miguel Cotto vs. Ike Quartey
Good, competitive matchup. Both skilled all around fighters. Quartey had the better jab, Cotto was the better body puncher. Both had solid power, and could hurt the other.
I see a close decision either way. My gut instinct was Cotto by close decision, but the more I think about it I can see Quartey winning a close one. It's a really fantastic matchup.

IMO Quartey would win by decision.
Re: Welterweights : Miguel Cotto vs. Ike Quartey
Interesting. I think it's a toss up. Both had excellent lead hands due to their lead hand being their dominant hand. I think Quartey may have had a stronger chin which could be the difference. Can't see Cotto standing up to prime DLH the way Quartey did. The problem is I feel he never reached his potential where Cotto overachieved IMO.

I like Ike.

Bizarre prediction. Cotto got worn down by the controversial Pacman to be stopped in 12 and broken up by a guy proven to be using loaded gloves in 11. Other than that, no stoppage losses on his record.
Quartey's last 3-4 round stoppage win was Vince Philips, he never stopped a top level fighter, ever.

Quartey would get my money. I think I'd collect.

I think Quartey’s power is the difference. Not saying clean KO maybe cuts. I always rooted for Cotto and was happy when he avenged his defeat when fought fairly. But I also felt he was a level below the top junior welterweight welterweights of his day. Pacquio had lost much of his power by welterweight. Quartey was a big natural welterweight.JimStone wrote: ↑23 Jun 2019, 11:45 Bizarre prediction. PAC was the ped poster boy when he fought cotto. Being competitive and losing to Manny and Floyd doesn't put you below a Jose Luis Lopez.

If they are the top guys which they were and you lost to the you are a level below. Quartey was top level. A lot of people thought he beat De La Hoya. Would Cotto beat Oscar? I don’t think he would. It’s not a cut on him, I liked him he just came up short against the big names.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑24 Jun 2019, 08:10 PAC was the ped poster boy when he fought cotto.
