Usyk Made WBO Mandatory - Faces Winner of AJ vs Ruiz

Post by SAPFO »

Crazy that he's not even debuted at HW yet, but it seems his super champion status at CW gets him a shot.

Whyte must be well pissed off. They’ve be a lot of teeth sucking raaaarted bumbaclarts chucked around in the Whyte household tonight.

I think Usyk definitely beats Ruiz and most likely Joshua. I'd love to see it, regardless of the questionable ethics.

I think Usyk is very capable of cracking the division wide open. Whoever faces him I’ll have huge respect for. I can see him being avoided like the plague.

Indeed. It's like a sixth former getting a kicking from a third year. But one with mad skills and sweet dance moves.

before anyone moans about corruption, etc.....its a longstanding wbo policy that a champ moving up a division can straight away get a mandatory title shot if they want. this isnt just specific to usyk

he is the last guy to defend a wbo title (his last fight) , hasnt had other fights at hw since (so the mandatory in effect was ordered straight away on a fight by fight basis) or taken a loss, was wbo champ just as recent as few weeks ago. etc . not sure its restricted only to a current wbo champ in a lower division who petitions, but usyk his last fight was a wbo title defense, at cruiser, which he won, so sems pretty close

im not sure when the peittion was made anyway , the 'officially' vacating and then upgrading of glowacki was only a week or two ago, this couldve been in the works before then

Usyk beats AJ after after a week of norovirus, & a night of no sleep!! Usyk is not a monster puncher it seems, and we are yet to see how his chin holds up at HW, I’m sure it’ll be fine, although the old cliche of ‘it’s the HW division, anything can happen’ still applies.

IMO Fury is the only hurdle for Usyk, and that’s purely a size advantage, as I think Usyk is the better boxer.

Let’s not be mistaken. Usyk is on another level. Many rumours of him beating up Wlad out there.

Fury v Usyk for all the belts is going to be THE fight to determine the best heavyweight of this era for me. They beat all the rest. Could happen in late 2020.

This will be the strait of further fragmentation of the belts, the WBA and IBF will surely strip the winner for facing Uzyk

Exactly, for the first time in years, we'll see all the ABC farces going their own way.

:oo If those rumors are true, and he beat him up prior to the Wlad v Fury snorefest, Usyk may be “linearal” HW champ as we speak. :OhYes:

i dont get the 'belts will be fragmented straight away' stuff

dont unified rules allow for defenses against other organizations mandatories, even if they arent ranked within every of the major orgs? you guys saying the wba and ibf would not accept usyk (there cw champ btw) as a hw defense?

who are the guys waiting on ibf and wba shots and whats the order it goes in. is pulev ibf mandatory

thing is, these top guys havent even been fighting each other that much at all. its more theory then reality at this point that even if the belts were between two guys they would fight each other for them

I don't have a problem with Usyk being installed as mandatory, though I am sure I would be livid if I were a top ten heavy. I am pleased that there is a bit of a shake up going on rather than three divs all saying 'those two won't fight me'. I do think anyone highly rated by the WBO are right to feel aggrieved as the lower weight champion moving up rule is being applied despite not being applicable.

This is the WBO folks. The organisation that let Watson and Eubank contest a vacant title without either ever having boxed at the weight. They moved a bloke up in the rankings who had been dead for 8 months. Herbie Hide, according to them, is a 2 time heavyweight champion of the world.

Usyk is class but Whyte, if he beats Rivas and doesn't get given a title shot by someone, is within his rights to 'go postal' as the newscasters often say after a mass shooting.

If AJ gets through Ruiz, how will he weasel out of this one?

No chance will he fight Usyk. He'll be given a boxing lesson. I smell a quack coming on.

The other bodies will prob make it easy for him if they threaten to strip him. He will be able to vacate the WBO while saving face.
Eddie will build up Usyk, he will get Chisora, Whyte and Parker, ready for the super fight against Joshua, Wilder and Fury.

Whyte had the chance of facing Joshua (again) just a few months ago and he turned it down.
