Fighting a average featherweight in July should at least allow khan to have another meaningful fight before the years out. If he was then to fight brook in late September/October he could surely retire a very rich man.

Also, you said he was a "former strap holder"...yeah...the IBO or the WBA Asian Pacific title. He's never held a major World title.

IBO is like the 5th most important title I guess, but considering that there's already 3 too many World Champions, I'm not about to start acknowledging the IBO as important.

WBC Pearl title withdrawn from Amir Khan event, International belt added

World Boxing Council officials had ratified a one-off ‘Pearl Belt’ to be on the line for the contest. This accolade has now been withdrawn.

The strap will be saved for another occasion, more than likely to be a Khan event.

Releasing their thoughts on the matter, the WBC has now sanctioned the International title for next month’s offering.

“On July 12, 2019, the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will host a night of historic boxing starring the great former world champion, Amir Khan,” said the WBC.

“Originally, Amir Khan was facing Neeraj Goyat; However. But Goyat suffered a car accident recently, causing him some injuries that will prevent him from going into the ring this night. For this reason, Billy Dib will be Amir’s new opponent.

“The World Boxing Council had prepared a special belt to recognize the winner of this fight not only because this is a historical contest, but also as a symbol of peace to recognize the efforts of Amir Khan; representing Great Britain and Pakistan. And Neeraj Goyat; representing India.

“This is to boost sports and social development in this region.

“Considering all these elements and above all the proven quality of both contenders, the WBC approved Khan vs. Dib for the vacant international welter belt. The pearl belt will be reserved for another special occasion in the future.

“Likewise, the WBC and its President Mauricio Sulaimán will take this opportunity to wish Neeraj Goyat a speedy recovery."

I'm indifferent to him. Just find it odd that I've seen him so many times on Video games, and in relatively big fights, but I've never seen him look like the kinda fighter that deserves as much marketing as he's gotten.

He was touted in Oz I recall when he first started out which was a long time ago now. He’s fought some decent fighters and lost to them all quite handily. Sums him up really.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has sanctioned the organisation’s Vacant International Welterweight title to be contested between Amir Khan and Billy Dib on Friday 12th July at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Sulaiman said, “The fight between Amir Khan and Billy Dib is now officially confirmed for the WBC International title and I’m proud that it will be contested for at the magnificent King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah. The specially commissioned WBC Pearl Championship belt that was due to be challenged for will now be contested at a future date. The winner of Khan and Dib will receive a WBC ranking in the top five of the welterweight division.”

Amir Khan’s ‘Red Sea Fight Night’ showdown against Billy Dib in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday 12th July will have a host of celebrities from the world of sport and entertainment attending the big night.
