Just read there that the WBC have upgraded Canelo to WBC Franchise Middleweight champ and Jermall Charlo has been upgraded from Interim champ to full WBC champ and will be defending his belt this weekend against Adams so looks like the WBC are following the WBA Super/Regular route
After all the Pearl, Diamond, Silver garbage thr WBC have been pushing lately I'm no surprised,
Effing greedy crooks the lot of them

Quoting myself from the Current Scene section, but this is my take on this Franchise Champion BS.
For the Love of God. What's it gonna take for us as fans to just unanimously agree to stop giving a f*ck about these goddamn belts?
I mean just how stupid does this sh*t gotta get?
I gave up on them at least a decade ago. Belts mean fornicate all now, just an indication of how much sway your promoter has and how much money you draw.
Fighters are good at fooling themselves though - the number of guys who consider themselves as world champions when they’ve just turned over some bang average no mark for a plastic trinket is unreal.
The relationship between the WBC and Canelo has not always been good - to say the least. Jose's gushing fawning over Canelo and his shameless antics to get Canelo into the WBC "fold" are downright disgraceful. Where is the impartiality Jose ?!?! The WBC is now just making up a new belt for Canelo. The small print about "special privileges" with regard to mandatory challengers is sickening.
I assume this is, on a wider note, a counter-move by the WBC against the threat of a fighter who becomes "bigger" than the alphabet bodies, and no longer needs them. Wasn't too long back that Canelo absolutely wasn't going to be paying WBC sanction fees, and he felt they could shove their belts where the sun don't shine.
