Matchroom Boxing July 6th Show in Manchester Cancelled

Matchroom Boxing received news today that an arm injury has ruled Jack Massey out of his July 6 clash with Lawrence Okolie.

Consequently, a decision has been made to postpone the event.

The pair were due to meet at Manchester Arena next weekend, with Okolie’s British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight titles on the line, but the Hackney man will now defend his titles against an opponent to be confirmed soon on the undercard of Dillian Whyte vs. Oscar Rivas at The O2 in London on July 20, shown live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Anthony Fowler will take on Blackpool’s former World title challenger Brian Rose on a new show later this summer, with further details to be announced early next week.

Refunds for tickets purchased for the July 6 show are available from the original point of purchase.

It was doomed when Buatsi decided to take a longer break after the New York fight.

I can’t imagine Okolie is or ever will be a ticket seller given his painfully boring style.

I was ringside for Okolie v whoever it was on the AJ v Takam undercard. When I consider that and his other snoozefests like the Issac fight, it is safe to say that I would rather watch a DVD of my conception that him fight again

Very poor show from the off from Matchroom at such a big venue especially as the promised headliner never materialised.

First Fitzgerald pulled out and then Felix Cash a couple of days ago followed closely now by Massey .

I was looking forward to seeing local prospect Jack Cullen have his commonwealth title shot at Cash . I’ve been very impressed with him on local VIP shows and he recently became the English Champion.
He could be the next star to emerge on Steve Woods impressive record of promoting new talent.

Hopefully that fight too can be rearranged.
