Jiminez had a point deducted in 4th, was his best round in the fight. Heating up in the 5th, Jiminez came out very aggressive, yafai cut, still comfortably ahead for yafai.

Junior bantamweight world title Khalid Yafai easily dominated mandatory challenger Norbelto Jimenez en route to a one-sided decision win to retain his belt for the fifth time.

The judges had it 119-107, 118-108 and 117-109 for Yafai, who said he suffered perforations in both of his eardrums in the fight.

Yafai's speed advantage and technical dominance were evident immediately, as Jimenez, whose legs were unsteady from the outset, could do little other than back up, hold, grab and throw a punch from time to time. Jimenez was fighting for the first time in a year, and he was very obviously rusty.

Referee Danny Schiavone had seen enough of Jimenez's holding and docked him one point when he did it again in the fourth round.

Yafai (26-0, 15 KOs), 30, of England, who was fighting in the United States for the second time, stalked Jimenez (29-9-4, 16 KOs), 28, of the Dominican Republic, round after round and fired straight shots to the head and body against an opponent who was in survival mode for most of the fight.

In the seventh round, Jimenez went down when Yafai nailed him with a low blow. He was given time to recover, and when the round ended, the fighters exchanged words.

In the final seconds of the 12th round, Yafai scored a flash knockdown to finish a forgettable fight that left the crowd booing.

Jimenez was getting his second shot at a 115-pound world title, having dropped a split decision in Japan to Kohei Kono in 2014, his only other fight outside the Dominican Republic.

Yafai's goal is now for a much bigger fight.

"I won easily. Now on to the big fight," Yafai said. "I want [former titlist Srisaket Sor] Rungvisai, [champion Juan Francisco] Estrada, Chocolatito [Gonzalez]. Those kinds of guys have to be next. I want all the big fights. All the big guys."

I used to think Yafai had the skills and enough power to compete with the other champs but the more I watch him the more I think he's on borrowed time, I still had him winning a wide 117-111 but Jiminez troubled him at times with his holding and awkward style, I thought the ref was a bit quick to dock Jimenez a point in the 4th for holding especially when you consider the amount of low blows Yafai got away with without being penalised, at least 3 times Jiminez was down from borderline low blows

Yafai did get through with some legal shots downstairs and some nice right hands but once Jiminez stopped spoiling as much and started to try to fight he had success and won some rounds, uppercuts were probably his best shot, I thought the knockdown in the last round was a bit harsh but Yafai did land a left hook sort of push to put Jiminez down, I thought Jiminez was edging the round as well but it didn't matter in the end, Yafai won wide on the cards

I think yafai's level has been found. I'd say he's fringe world class. But like FRINGE. I don't think he beats anyone legit world class, maybe wins 3 rounds. Doesn't have an equaliser either.

With the new set up. Yafai-Chocolatito would be no more than a very good undercard forgot for a big event in the UK.
