Re: Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev - TBA
Akhmadaliev reached the semifinals in Rio, losing only to Robeisy Ramirez.
24-year-old Akhmadaliev (6-0, 5 KO) took bronze at Rio and has had zero issues in the pro ranks, winning and defending a WBA trinket in his last two bouts. He was given leave to take a stay-busy fight while Roman (27-2-1, 10 KO) dealt with IBF champ TJ Doheny, knocking out former world champion Carlos Carlson on the undercard of that unification fight.
Roman obviously has the superior pro pedigree, boasting wins over Moises Flores, Gavin McDonnell, and Doheny in his last three fights, but Akhmadaliev is a quality foe.
Between this, Rey Vargas-Tomoki Kameda on July 13th, a resurgent Guillermo Rigondeaux, and Emmanuel Navarrete’s brutal reign, super bantamweight is on fire at the moment. Keep it up, lads.

Re: Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev - TBA
I think Akhmadaliev will be a live underdog against the more experienced defending WBA champ. I dont think Murodjon's limited pro experience will be enough for him to beat Roman but I see a very competitive fight with Roman winning a hard-fought decision
That would be a surprise if the Uzbekistani won a pro world title before better-known, more experienced 2016 Olympians like Teofimo Lopez, Joshua Buatsi or Shakur Stevenson.

Daniel Roman-Murodjon Akhmadaliev Purse Bid is Won By WOB

Plans for Daniel Roman’s next title defense have suddenly taken an odd turn.
The unified super bantamweight titlist is due to next defend versus Uzbekistan’s Akhmadaliev, with the bout sent to an official purse bid hearing at World Boxing Association (WBA) headquarters in Panama City, Panama. World of Boxing, Akhmadaliev’s Russia-based promoter turned out to be the lone bidder, claiming the rights to the fight with an unchallenged bid of $145,000, WBA officials announced on Tuesday.
“World of Boxing won the purse bid to promote the Championship bout between the WBA World Super Bantamweight Champion Daniel Román and mandatory challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev,” confirmed Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, president of the WBA.
Three fight dates were offered by World of Boxing: Thursday, September 19 in Los Angeles, Calif. (WBA reported Sept. 14, although supporting documents show Sept. 19); Saturday, Sept. 21 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; or Saturday, Sept. 28 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
All fall within the terms of the purse bid and ordered mandatory bout, with the WBA ordering the contest to take place no later than Sept. 30.
“We’re very excited that World of Boxing has won this purse bid and is ready to give ‘MJ’ the opportunity to fight Danny Roman for the WBA Super Bantamweight World Title in September,” stated Vadim Kornilov, Akhamdaliev’s manager. “‘MJ’ has accomplished a great deal as a professional in just over a year, has fought top opposition from his first fights as a pro, has defended his WBA Intercontinental Title numerous times, and is ready to fight for a world title and become a world champion.”
The bout wlll mark the first career title fight for the ambitious Akhmadaliev (6-0, 5KOs), a 2016 Olympic bronze medalist for his native Uzbekistan but who now lives and trains in Los Angeles. The 24-year old southpaw has quickly advanced from newcomer to prospect to contender since turning pro just last March.
All six of his pro bouts have take place in the United States, including a 3rd round knockout of Carlos Carson this past April in Inglewood, Calif. The bout took place on the DAZN-streamed undercard which also featured the super bantamweight unification bout between Roman (27-2-1, 19KOs) and TJ Doheny, with Akhmadaliev already guaranteed the winner.

Re: Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev - TBA
I've always said this.. Hearn never wins purse bids, in this case, he/DAZN didn't even bother putting a bid in.
$145,000 is a very very low figure. Based on the split, it's definitely going to be Roman's lowest pay day since he inked a deal with Matchroom USA.
I do have a feeling though that, with no bid, it MAY mean Roman may vacate the WBA belt. He will probably keep his other belt. Would be a shame if that happens, this would be a very good fight.
This was supposed to be a Roman's big road to undisputed and recognition. Isn't that why he signed with Hearn? Or did Hearn sign him, just so he could say he 'signed' a world champion.
If it's a 75-25 split, Roman would be getting what? $108,750!

Problem is both of these guys are co-promoted by Hearn... And the IBF has a mandatory due soon too with Iwasa... Could essentially see Roman title less because his co-promoter has been a dickRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Jul 2019, 03:24 I've always said this.. Re: Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev - September 13, 2019
WBA and IBF World Super-Bantamweight champion Daniel Roman leads a stacked undercard in a mouth-watering chief-support bout as he takes on lethal WBA mandatory challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev. Roman (27-2-1 10 KOs) unified his WBA crown with the IBF strap of Irishman TJ Doheny in a fight of the year contender at home in Los Angeles in April, a fifth World title win on the bounce a fourth inside 14 months for the 29 year old.
Roman’s fifth defense of his WBA crown pits him against dangerous Uzbek talent Akhmadaliev (6-0 5 KOs) – the highly decorated amateur has looked fearsome in ending five of his six pro outings to date inside the distance, with the 25 year old’s last win coming on the same LA bill as Roman’s dust-up with Doheny. Roman vs. Akhmadaliev is brought to you in association with Thompson Boxing and World of Boxing.
“Anyone that knows me understands that I’m a real fighter,” said Roman. “I’ll fight anyone they put in front of me. Akhmadaliev is hungry, but so am I. It wasn’t that long ago [2017] when I challenged for the WBA title so we’re not going to give it up. I’m here to fight and defend the WBA belt once more. I have two belts [WBA and IBF], but I want more. My goal is to get all of them so by no means am I overlooking Akhmadaliev. He has that amateur pedigree, can punch with power and likes to come forward. The second you underestimate someone, that’s when bad things happen. I’ll be ready for whatever he brings.
“As a unified champion, I understand that I have a target on my back. That’s why I’ve been in the gym, staying sharp like I always do. There’s no time to relax and look back at what I’ve done because my work isn’t finished.”
“Danny is among the most committed and disciplined World champions out there,” said Ken Thompson, president of Thompson Boxing Promotions. “He relishes challenges and at this point in his career, he only wants the toughest and biggest fights. Akhmadaliev is a young and dangerous opponent, but Danny has all the tools to continue his reign as the best talent in the division. We’re confident that he’ll deliver another excellent performance and retain his WBA title for the fifth time.”
“I am very glad that Daniel Roman took this fight,” said Akhmadaliev. “I know that we are both warriors and this will be a real war! Don’t miss this fight!”
“We have been waiting for this fight for some time,” said Vadim Kornilov from World of Boxing. “I believe with the will, character, and power of both of these guys, this fight will be a fight of the year candidate.”
There’s more World title action on the bill as record-breaking seven-weight World champion Amanda Serrano challenges WBO World Featherweight champion Heather Hardy in an all-Brooklyn affair, brought to you by DiBella Entertainment in association with Matchroom Boxing USA.

Great opportunity for the Uzbekistani Akhmadaliev to become the first 2016 Olympian to win a world title as a pro but Roman is no slouch. I consider the more-experienced Roman a slight favorite but Murodjon has at least a puncher's chance and has shown impressive power in his last 2 bouts!!
Re: Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev - September 13, 2019
A good opponent for Roman and a huge test for Murodjon Akhmadaliev. I believe the Olympian wins.

It will be a real good win for Muro if he wins. Roman is a good fighter and a true 12 round type. I think he'll keep his belts.

Re: Daniel Roman vs. Murodjon Akhmadaliev - September 13, 2019 (OFF)
Danny Roman, the IBF/WBA junior featherweight champion, has pulled out of his scheduled bout against Murodjon Akhmadaliev. This fight was to have taken place Sept. 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
"He's got a left shoulder injury, we don't know the full extent but we should know by tomorrow. We already did MRIs last week," Alex Camponovo, the general manager of Thompson Boxing, confirmed to ESPN on Monday.
According to Roman's trainer and manager, Eddie Gonzalez, the shoulder was damaged Aug. 19 while sparring. "He felt a lot of pain," said Gonzalez, who noted that Roman was given some time off from the gym and had acupuncture sessions but that the pain flared up again a few days later.
"We'll get a definite answer on Tuesday from the surgeon to know if he's going to have surgery or not. They're saying it's a partial tear," said Gonzalez, who mentioned that his fighter will be seeing Dr. Richard Rogachefsky.

I've read that Roman has been diagnosed With Tendinitis.
Alex Camponovo, general manager of Thompson Boxing said. “We got the results back and the good news he should only be out (of the ring) for 4-6 weeks. We thought it was a tear, but it turned out to just be tendinitis.”
“The idea that we wanted to pull (Roman) from this fight to put him in another unification bout or any other fight… it’s not even worth mentioning. Danny Roman is always willing to take on all comers, as his track record proves.
“We are very much looking forward to this fight versus Murojdon Akhmadaliev. His team can rest assure and expect to be ready to fight for the title by November or December, once we can work out a new date.”
