Jermaine Franklin vs Jerry Forrest

Post by handsofstone »

Heavyweight action live on B/nation this Friday, unbeaten Franklin tops the bill, he's 18-0(13KO) I watched him on the Shields/Hammer undisputed card a few months ago, cant remember too much about the fight apart from him going the 10 round distance and not being exactly blown away, I'm pretty sure he wasn't in the best of shape although I'm not certain

Forrest is 25-2(19KO) he was stopped in 2 by Washington and his next fight lost a decision to Hunter over 8 rounds, not much else to go on

Otto Wallin fights BJ Flores on the undercard

Franklin wins a controversial SD, I never had him losing as wide as commentary but I still had Forrest winning 96-94 and there were a lot of close rounds that could've gone either way, I just thought Forrest outboxed Franklin down the stretch, his southpaw style and simple shots doing enough to take the rounds, 1st rounds both guys stood and slugged it out, looked like we may be in for a short night but think died down until the closing seconds of the fight when they did it again

Forrest showed a good jab and worked well off the ropes and got the better of the exchanges there, Franklin did land some nice lead right hands but just didn't work enough for me, Forrest wasn't exactly busy himself but the bread and butter boxing in the second half pulled the win out for him on my card, I wouldn't call it a gift for Franklin as there were some tough rounds to score but they were definitely generous cards in his favour, he wont break into the top tier of Heavyweights

not sure why Wallin vs Flores was scrapped
