Trey Lippe Morrison Interview
Trey Lippe Morrison Interview
It appears he is back in the ring soon, still with Roach:
We were grateful to recently had the chance to speak with heavyweight prospect Trey Lippe (Morrison), son of the exciting 90’s heavyweight Tommy “The Duke” Morrison. We haven’t heard much from him in the ring as of late, so were lucky enough to catch him in a break from his current training camp. Trey has a record of 15-0, 13 by the way of stoppage. Like his father, he is a powerful, action heavyweight that is a looking for the big KO.
CG- We haven't seen you in the ring for over a year. Can you let the fans know why the delay in your ring return, and when can we expect to see you back in action?
Morrison-Just training stuff, and I fight on July 17th in Costa Rica. After that fight we plan on fighting every 8 weeks.
CG- Very nice for the fans to hear. Do you have an opponent for the fight yet?
Morrison-Not yet that I know of
CG-We wish you the best of luck on the 17th. What did you learn from your father, positive or negative, that has helped you in your boxing career?
Morrison-Praise, worship, thanks, and have God in your corner, be humble.
CG-That’s a solid structure to base a career on. We are in an upcoming potential golden era for heavyweights, and you're obviously very much in this picture. Within the year, what heavyweights would you personally like to face?
Morrison-Anyone that gives me a shot for a belt to become champion.
CG-Last time I saw you, you were training with Freddie Roach is he still part of your team?
Morrison- Yes.
CG- So in terms of your relationship with Freddie how is it training with him and how do you feel he has improved yourself as a fighter?
Morrison-It’s great and just working on the lil things. Boxing is mastering the lil things.
CG-You're closing in on being 30, which is still plenty of time left for a career, especially at HW. Where do you see your career going in the next 3 years? What goals do you have to accomplish during that time?
Morrison-Hopefully becoming champion, I believe I will be. It all depends on what God has planned for me. But as fast as I’m concerned, I’ll do everything I can. The goals I have to accomplish is to keep getting better, break the top 10, continue to worship and give God credit.
CG-Thank you so much for this interview and your time Trey. It’s been an absolute pleasure. I hope you come away with an impressive victory on the 17th. My last question is, what was it like when you first entered the sport, being the son of Tommy Morrison? Were you treated differently by people in the sport because of your father?
Morrison-It was really rough and hard, I had to learn fast. Some did some didn’t. It was more of a target on my back then anything.

I'm not too big i the idea of religion either, but it does help some people turn their life around, which I can't knock.

Seemed to work for Holyfield. For Ali.
Belief in the power of a higher force gives some confidence.
And in boxing, confidence can be half the battle.

Re: Trey Lippe Morrison Interview
he seems fairly average.
a year out training? huh?
not sure what the god and worship stuff is about?
he is not a part of the new golden era of heavies at all. You need to fight above b level for that. lippe is strictly fighting d class atm

Re: Trey Lippe Morrison Interview
He is absolutely inactive, talks some god related bullshit and then reveals some championship plans? Oh, dear. I'm a huge fan of Tommy Morrison, but his kids don't look special at all and waste a lot of time. I hope, I'm wrong, but I don't believe, Trey will become a major player with a one lay-off after another.
Re: Trey Lippe Morrison Interview
I'm not a fan of religion, don't believe in it. I said it helps "some" people turn their life around, which I believe it does. Of course people run with it in the opposite direction, which aren't the some I'm referring too.
Re: Trey Lippe Morrison Interview
I know that. I was just making light of it, which in my opinion is the best way to treat religion. I agree with you it can have a positive effect or in some cases a negative one.

Very big Christian family. Trey & Kenzie and several of their family members talk about Jesus Christ Almighty God alot on social media. Very nice people.
They just need to start stepping it up. Time works against a boxer and it's time to move beyond third & second tier opponents.
