Shakur Stevenson vs Guevara

Post by diddy »

“ Mexican Warrior” Guevara is literally running laps around the ring. This is awful.

Not that there isn't a hundred other reasons why the UFC is run better than boxing, and don't get me wrong there is no bias going on in this mismatch, why is a manager of a fighter announcing his fight?

Well that was pointless. Time to get this kid a title fight.

Agreed, Warrington is the fight to make.

LSC, Valdez, Warrington, Gary Russell are the only guys in that division who can beat Shakur. I think the only guy I would favor over him currently would be Russell because he can match the handspeed. LSC may be able to volume him to death but I'm not sure. I would pick Stevenson over Valdez and Warrington without much hesitation but I'd worry about what kind of cards he would see across the pond against Warrington. More than likely he's going to become champ and stay champ, for a long time.

SS probably came in at 140 so why not realistically say potential opponents could include Gervonta, Teofimo, Ryan Garcia , Berchalt, or even Cancio? We’re only talking about 5-7 lbs more...

Because in the big picture of his long-term career it will be better for Stevenson (both legacy-wise and financially) if he wins world titles in as many different weight classes as possible. De La Hoya was one of the early trend-setters in that regard. After winning Olympic gold as 132 he dropped to 130 as a pro and won his first pro world title at that weight. He only defended his title at 130 one time but ended up winning world titles at 6 different weights.

If Stevenson lives up to his potential he could eventually win world belts at 126, 130 and 135 (maybe even 140). He just turned 22, so why not take your time and move up gradually to boost your earning potential and place in boxing history?

Hopefully Shakur gets a crack at Valdez early next year.

Shouldn't be difficult to make. Apparently Warrington isn't interested.

Valdez looks like he may have gone back physically since the brutal Quigg fight.

Stevenson would handle him convincingly.

These guys at 126 aren’t stepping in the ring with Shakur until they’re forced to do so. Can’t blame them honestly. He is so skilled and so hard to hit.

i mean shaks only 12-0 and the best guy shak beat could hardly win a round vs a guy jamel herring schooled, no doubt shaks really good, but its a bit early to say everyones ducking

lets at least see him vs a lower top 10 guy or something....he can still find someone to improve on his opposition
