He didn't fight intelligently. He didn't utilitize any of his abilities that he's demonstrated in the past. What else could that be unless he let pride & ego get in the way of common Sense?

My hats off to Dubois. He probably would have defeated Gorman no matter what approach Gorman would have used--- I said not too long ago that imho the time has passed for Gorman to be able to beat Dubois, that the fight should have happened earlier in their careers.

But yes, Gorman in my view fought a horrible fight because he went with the worst possible strategy to fight Dubois with.

Theres a massive difference between amateur tig boxing and professional fights, It showed and Dubois did what was required. Gorman can come again he's still young enough to learn and adapt. It's far from the end.

I just don't think Gorman was ever all that.

I tend to agree with you on the matter.

Gorman, H. Fury, Hosea Burton, and some of the other well known gypsy fighters I can see being either the top British or European level--- but not quite world-class level, in the sense of actually winning fights convincingly against genuine world-class guys.

Give or take three-five years we may see them all be up there once the division clears a bit when T. Fury, Wilder, Joshua, Ruiz, etc step away but I can't see alot of them really being "the guy" who gets to the top of the division.

At the end of the day Gorman for all his slabbering was totally useless , he didn't have a clue. Congratulations Dubois.

Maybe, but then we'll have Dubois; Ajagba; Makhmudov; Jalolov; Teslenko; Sirenko and still have Hrgovic. Should be exciting.

All the more reason to expect that alot of people simply are never going to get beyond the British, Commonwealth & European level. They may become gatekeepers but not go beyond that.

Gorman landed a couple of nice lefts early in the 1st and was doing well but Dubois was coming into it by the time the round ended, once Dubois put him down in the 3rd all Gorman was doing was trying to fight with his heart instead of his head, just relying on wild haymakers with no thought, any gameplan Gorman had went out thr window after the knockdown

Just watched it again. Gorman didn't know how to handle Dubois' jab. Dub is really improving every fight.

Chisora could be done by then. Then the world title when Fury, Wilder and Ruiz have done their business. There is no rush here.
I think he’d take an 80 year old Chisora... just

Just watched myself. Gorman has decent leverage on that but he’s too scare to roll and throw in close, so he leans back when he throws it which means he loses all the power

I called that one horribly wrong ahead of time. Thought Gorman was far more level headed than he turned out to be. Still not sold on Dubois.

This, sometimes you just look at a guy and listen to what people are saying about him and just don’t get it. I’m genuinely fascinated in what people saw in Gorman that suggested he was a potential contender, because I thought it was trivially apparent that he wasn’t.

Dubois looked good last night. Seems to be improving consistently, although wouldn’t read too much into the win as Gorman seemed cowed from the first big shot Dubois landed. For all the talk of Gorman’s fast hands he never showed anything like that on the night. Probably easier hitting Ricky Hatton pads than doing it when a monster is walloping you, mind.
As for Joe Joyce...I’ve seen faster heavy bags.

Yes - from a marketing angle it seems they have limited after-fight options.

Although maybe they will copy the quiet brooding type thing ... that will distract from the fact he actually has nothing to say.

I feel Dubois is a genuine prospect for the top. Confident he’d beat Joyce at the moment too.

Gorman tried to fight back as much as he could, but still it was all Dubois' fight. Every round was taken by Dubois. Dubois outboxed and outfought Gorman in an impressive fashion. Yeah, he'll do something similar to Joyce. Dubois is real deal, a solid boxer and a big puncher.

Okay, so far lets check the fundamentals needed get to the top today.

Chin - He takes shots well, he's seems confident in his chin. When he's tagged he actually seems to turn it up.

Power - I think he's got raw natural power. He's only 21. He's gonna get stronger. I think he's already one of the killers in that sense.

Strength - This kids a bull. He wont be bullied by anybody but Fury.

Skills - The jab really is the the key to unlock the door, and so far that key has worked on every door he's tried.

Appeal - I think his genuine humble persona will grow on people, especially the likes of us, although maybe not the "XFactor" casuals. I like him. I like his awkwardness, it's real! Also seems Lennox & Frank have taken to him which speaks volumes.

I hold my hands up, always rated Dubois but thought Gorman will out point him - that was an excellent performance look forward to watching his progression !

I was picking Dubois, but I thought, Gorman would be better, than he had actually been. Still I was pretty surprised with the amount of Gorman picks.

Did Gorman quit? Did he do a Malik Scott/Charles Martin and miscount the count on purpose?
