I'd like to see Froch in with Lacy.
I was gonna ask if anybody else saw Froch do that with his foot. Magee was fcuked anyway, but it was still a nasty move! Noticed quite a few dirty tricks from Froch; Shoulder, slapping, back of the head, even a behind the back shot whilst he had him in a headlock.... I like that move, lol.

Froch showed a good chin mind, but still an arrogant overated turd, who can only fight at ONE pace.

I'd like to see im fight Robin Ried in a crossroads effort. :box:
Really? I think Froch v Reid would be a hideous affair. Froch would win even his crap workrate would be enough to outhustle Reid. 2-3 years ago Reid would have stood him on his head.

Froch is such an annoying fighter. When he let's his hands go,he looks class.
He just does'nt do enough work!!This will cost him in the long run, unless he sort's it out.
He has a quality chin, and very good power.
I think a lot of people talk down his chances at the supposed 'top level'(surely Magee can be considered close to top level?)purely because they hate the guy.Sure,he is arrogant and cocky.
Nothing wrong with that in my opinion if you can back it up.

People need to remember Lacy was tailor made for Calzaghe, and stop talking about Joe like he is Ray Robinson reborn.

I am not saying Froch would beat him,but it would be closer than a lot of you guy's think.

As for the guy who said Magee has a crap chin.....last night was the 1st time had been stopped.....yeah,real crap chin....

Yeah I agree.

Shame Reid's past it otherwise he could of exposed Froch.

Agreed. Came through as expected, but kind of exposed himself at the same time. Not very ring-intelligent at all and you need that to step up.
You can go far with power and chin, but not to world class.

after paying good money to watch an evening of boxing where robin reid was on the card a year or so ago i never want to see that burk fight again. sorry guys, but he stank the place out. there were more handshakes than punches. much as i cant see a future for froch i'd be shouting loudly for carl against reid.

Absolutely right, Magee was better for much of the fight but Froch has the big punch and that did it - I also agree at the top level he will be outpointed and possibly stopped

Froch showed he has a good punch and a good chin... but he also showed that he has an awful defence, is one paced and just begging to be outboxed and outworked by a world class opponent. Overall I found Froch to be very disapointing, the step up in class did not see a step up in performance and you have to ask whether Carl can really box better or if that is it?. As to world level, Calzaghe would swamp him and stop him imo and so would a lot of the other top guys at 168... if he really thinks he can pick up a world title fighting like that he is deluded I'm afraid.
I'd say to Carl, stop reading your press clippings and learn to defend yourself, otherwise you'll be walking on your heels by the end of your career!...

Froch is a real bighead with a real big punch and nothing much else - His defense is almost non existent and he has reached his limit with beating Magee - Top fighters with better chins will outpoint or even stop him - I say give him to Calzaghe if thats what he wants

I actually hope that his arrogance is a front, otherwise he will have real problems when he is eventually found wanting. To hear him talk you would think he was Ray Robinson... confidence is good but Froch boxes with the same arrogance and that will only take him so far and not much beyond Europeon level unless he makes drastic improvements...

Froch would not win a round against Calzaghe, is it any coincidence Froch has gone quiet on that prospective matchup since the Lacy fight! He throws single shots the whole time Calzaghe could outwork him without breaking sweat. And imagine if that was Calzaghe in there last night against Froch's wide open defence he would have been landing 80%+ of his punches not 30%. Froch would get battered by Calzaghe no doubt about that in my mind. Froch is euro class at best anyone with a good chin and decent boxing skills will beat him at world level.

Love him or hate him, his power and excellent chin alone could take him a long way in what is now a fairly weak super middleweight division. For all his faults, he only needs to land two or three clean shots and he can take anyone out of there, Calzaghe included. Not that I think he'd beat Calzaghe, but his power and chin mean that he would have a chance against pretty much anybody.

I'd hope Froch and his trainer wouldn't be too stubborn to not quit like Lacy and Birmingham too.

Frochs not even getting near a world title.

Since Magee was screwed by Typsko, I guess Froch can be considered Euro class.

Even Kessler and Mundine would rape Froch.

Froch was ok and showed some good attributes in the way of chin and power. That uppercut was a peach in the first round, that punch was world class.

But Froch isn't....

He does seem like a bit of a dick as well, just one of those guys you won't mind seeing get beaten.

Well, at least you didn't come on profferring excuses, I hate to say I told you so, but I did warn you that you were in for a large serving of the pie you mentioned.

If it's any consolation, Froch looked like dogshit for much of the fight.

Nice one, Ali. Fair play for holding your hands up.

As for Froch, I'm going to swim up-stream, he impressed me getting the job done and crushing Magee in the 11th. Again it's very useful experience and no one has finished off Magee in such devastating fashion. Sure Magee's been knocked over before, but no one keeps him there for the the full count....until he made the mistake of getting in the ring the Froch.

Funny how we all translate boxer's performances, I thought it was Magee who was awful. He landed some tasty punches on the hands low Froch, but his holding and grabbing is flipping diabolical and has been for ages. It was only this cheating that kept him in the fight for as long as it did.

Yes, Carl got tagged plenty, but isn't Magee a decent boxer when he puts his mind to it ?

Froch also slipped and ducked a fair few, BUT when he did take a shot flush....what a solid chin. Couldn't fault Carl's fitness either. He may not have working three minutes a round, but it wasn't needed I always thought Froch had the look of a man who KNEW he was going to get Magee. I had Froch in front on points at the finish, and scoff at those that think it was only Magee's poor chin as the reason Froch won the fight.

There might be plenty of negative thoughts here and elsewhere, but if you enjoy what Carl's all about, like me, the party just goes on and we're (I'm) really enjoying it. Can't wait for the next instalment :D :box:

IMO, Froch gets beat by anyone who can take a half decent shot and can box with quick hands. His counter punching style will come unstuck at European level I think.

Good fight though, shame Magee cant take a punch for shit although that uppercut probably would have stopped most.

I'm shocked at all the criticism that Froch has got, he's the first person to stop Brian Magee and he done it in devastating fashion, most people on here were practically calling this a 50-50 fight before the event, he wins the fight and everybody is still focussing on the negatives. Magee's an excellent fighter, he's an awkward southpaw, with a good KO record and plenty of skills and at no point in the fight was he leading and at no time in the fight did he look like he'd win it IMO. Froch was ahead 95-94, 96-95, 97-92 on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage and there was only going to be 1 winner of the final 2 rounds IMO

Magee caught Froch flush a number of times through the fight and at no point was he even wobbled, all it done was anger Carl and spark him into action (showing good chin and heart). Carl came on really strong down the home stretch against an experienced 12 round fighter, he carries his power into the later rounds and he was looking very dangerous even before the stoppage (showing good fitness).

I know Carls got his faults such as his workrate and defence, but he's also got some massive positives that few have touched on on this thread. Carls chin looks rock solid everything just bounces off him, it will take a massive puncher to stop him (or one on the mythical sweet spot) the real test for Carl will be when he faces someone with a solid chin and a good workrate, will he be able to up his workrate when necessary. As Jim Watt said "he always looks to have something in reserve' (other than that comment Jim Watt done my head in with his negativity, JW always seems to dislike fighters that I like, I must be the anti-Jim Watt)

I still reckon Carl wins a major World title at some point, but if I'm totally honest with myself I don't think it will be against Joe - very good fight though. Bring on Mger!!!!!

There's some truth in this of course. Carl probably worked as hard as he thought he had to, but he was banking on stopping Magee way too much..

I thought Froch looked fresh as a daisy in the last round, and looked strong, but there are PLENTY of better fighters than Magee out there. Froch cannot afford to stand there posing like that against a decent fighter who can exert pressure and who has a dig. It was a great punch to end the fight, but I would have preferred to see Froch break Magee down systematically, which I believe he could have done.

Carl looks much better when he puts his shots together and works, and why Oh why won't he use that enormous reach of his. His arms are like a praying mantis, but Froch seems unwilling to use the jab as a hurtful and scoring shot. His left hooks are way too predictable most times, and against the next level of fighter, he is going to get hit more and more whilst waiting to deliver that shot. Sure, he has a great chin, so did eastman, but he still lost all his biggest fights, when with more effort and workrate he could have won all but the Hopkins bout.

If they could get Froch in with Beyer now he would be in with a shout as Beyer can be knocked out and is getting on a bit. But Calzaghe or Kessler would absolutely destroy Froch I dont think he'd stand much of a chance against either. But if Froch targets the Euro title next someone will beat him to Beyer!

Going back to Jim Watts' commentary last night on the Power-Ward show, I can only assume Watt poured out all his negativity on Froch last Friday.

It's a shame this post could be viewed as detracting from Power's very good display last night, but Watt was prasing him left, right and centre and gave several of the other boxers on the show lots of credit. Which baffles me even more as to why he slags off Froch so much.

Carl was up against a FAR superior challenger and ended matters in utterely convincing fashion. Maybe Watt just can't stand Froch, certainly Nicky Piper and Glenn McCrory looked sick as parrots after Froch won. I suppose proving people wrong has that effect.
