Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
When I say "the great champion" I mean about Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Klitschko brothers.

Don’t see it.

He looks good, but it's early to talk such things about him.

I can see him picking up a strap but to consider him becoming a great I don't see it

We'll see. Let's wait he faces good boxers that won fights against good boxers. Gorman had not faced many winners in his carreer.
We will know when Dubois beats guys who faced winners.

i doubt that he will ever get the title. he's defence is poor.
Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
His defence is not his advantage, but I would not say "poor", rather "average". I noticed the same thing with DDD and Parker, sometimes, there is "a hole" in their guard, and this could be very dangerous if your opponent is a solid counter-puncher. Interesting, but nobody (or almost nobody) did not write about this "fact".dagilechia wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 08:16 i doubt that he will ever get the title. he's defence is poor.
He is very strong, very powerful (I dare to compare him with Joshua). We don't know a lot about his chin and his stamina.
Anyway, I wish him all the best. I will follow his career, if I am alive and healthy. He will need a good management and a little bit of luck.

Solis had a lot of talent and size. He just didnt seem interested... that is tough to predict as an outsider.
Helenius... another story
But your point is taken. Who knows at this point but so far so good with dubous

Lol at vitali being a great champion. He can certainly reach that level.
Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
No he already is getting to big and robotic he doesn’t move his head either. Probably top 10 tho through sheer punch power.

Vitali was clearly a great fighter but his best win is..... corrie Sanders? He won a lot of rounds but ultimately lost against his 2 best opponents.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 09:11 Lol at vitali being a great champion. He can certainly reach that level.
Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
Simply put. Too early to tell. But I don't see 'greatness' in his future at this time.

That's about right.
There's something wrong about excitedly trotting out the old "Is so-and-so the next great (insert weight division)" thread just because Dubois stopped one Nathan Gorman.
It indicates nothing, one way or another.

No one knows what the future will bring, but Daniel Dubois has the potential to become a great champion. He's the best heavyweight under age 25.

Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
I don't necessarily agree that he was great, he most certainly didn't prove it and he didn't have a title reign near Joshua's. Wlad doesn't belong in that company, but vitali is embarrassing there.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 11:20Vitali was clearly a great fighter but his best win is..... corrie Sanders? Dubois has very slow feet, and very little upper body or head movement. I dont see him being a great.
Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
He is still on a learning curve but for now I'll say he has great potential.
We'll see where he is in a couple of years.

Gorman was pretty awful, milling away with his head down for much of the fight.SenorPipino wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 11:39![]()

I've had my fingers burnt by the likes of Dominick Guinn, so I now refuse to bestow greatness upon upcoming HWs before they deserve it, no matter how good they look.

Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
I think DDD's power surprised him. He didn't want to be hit anymore. Had no answer to the jab.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 14:40Gorman was pretty awful, milling away with his head down for much of the fight.SenorPipino wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 11:39

Yes, but wading in with both hands with your head down isnt really the right tactics against a huge puncher.oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 16:34I think DDD's power surprised him. He didn't want to be hit anymore. Had no answer to the jab.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 14:40

Jury's out on Dubois, he has obvious power, but power is the most overrated attribute in boxing.
Re: Will Daniel Dubois become the next great champion ?
ya, gorman pretty straight away got unsettled by the power and strength. dub stayed cool and composed but was able to unload when it was there
