He’s doing OK from it - 5 fights already - staying active and getting good $$$ - can’t blame him.
That's significant because Farmer's amateur career was essentially non-existent.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Jul 2019, 18:51 4 fights in 9 months.
DAZN keeping Farmer active fighting bums.
Just filling in dates. But at least he’s active.
Amateur Record: 12-4.
"I only had 16 amateur fights. I wasn’t really into boxing; I hardly knew anything about it. I just started learning about boxing. I fought 16 fights and went pro. It was learning on the job."
Beg to differ that Farmer is "digging deeper & deeper toward the bottom of the barrel" because I think the challengers Farmer is facing this year (Frenois & Carroll) are at least as good, if not better, than the guys Tevin was fighting a year ago (Tennyson & Dib).jujigatame wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 21:15 I don't care if he had a limited amateur career. He's 28 years old, he's had 34 pro fights, he's a beltholder, and he's ranked in the top 10 (if not the top 5) of his division by every ranking with credibility. Matchups like this are an embarrassment. He's been digging deeper and deeper towards the bottom of the barrel for a year now.
I think Frenois could be a little more challenging due to his reach and technique but not that much harder than Jono.
Gotta disagree with you there, except about Dib, who I agree has been awful for years now.Best Coast wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 02:57Beg to differ that Farmer is "digging deeper & deeper toward the bottom of the barrel" because I think the challengers Farmer is facing this year (Frenois & Carroll) are at least as good, if not better, than the guys Tevin was fighting a year ago (Tennyson & Dib).jujigatame wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 21:15 I don't care if he had a limited amateur career. I agree that Tennyson was probably Farmer's best win since he became IBF champ, especially since Tevin dropped him & stopped him (his lone stoppage win as a champ). But you wont convince me Fonseca, Carroll & Frenois are "increasingly woeful opponents" because that would mean that each guy was worse then the guy Farmer beat BEFORE him. That's not accurate because Carroll & Frenois fought each other to a draw (which commenter 3132DW right before me says Frenois actually won over Jono).jujigatame wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 20:27Gotta disagree with you there, except about Dib, who I agree has been awful for years now.Best Coast wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 02:57

Tennyson had just KO'd a fairly decent Martin Ward for the Commonwealth and EBU titles so at least he did SOMETHING to earn a title shot even if he's not that good.
Fonseca, Carroll, and now Frenois are each increasingly woeful opponents. None have had the slightest qualifications.
I'm pretty sure any hype you hear from the DAZN ringside telecast crew is due to the influence of Tevin's promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing. Hearn apparently sees Farmer as having potential to eventually develop into a legitimate top-notch fighter. I wouldnt rule out that possibility but Hearn clearly needs to step up the caliber of Tevin's opposition for that to ever happen.jujigatame wrote: ↑17 Jul 2019, 20:28 I think my point stands pretty well. Tennyson was probably his best defense and Fonseca was the best of the rest, IMO. So all that leaves is Carroll and Frenois. They fought to a draw, some say Frenois deserved it, but Frenois is also a month shy of 36 years old and more likely to have declined in the last several months.
Whether you rate Carroll or Frenois higher, they are both dreadful opponents and Farmer's opposition has not been going in a promising direction. Meanwhile every time I see him fight the announcers gush over him like he's a P4P great.
