Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Heavyweight contender Hughie Fury (23-2, 13 KOs) feels ready for a major fight against anyone in the division - including the world champions.
“I put myself in the top five in the world,” Fury said to The Mirror. “I’m coming out now and doing it. Whoever wants it, I’m ready for them. I’m not afraid to fight anyone.
“I would not be in this game if I didn’t think I had the beating of them all to become world champion. That’s my mentality. I’m a boxer to become world champion. That’s my goal and I believe I will get there.
“I would back myself against any of the other top fighters in the world and hopefully these are the fights we’re going to get. I believe I beat Parker. I believe I should already be world champion and it’s all to do with politics.
“Then I took the fight with Pulev and had a bit of bad luck there. I went over there to his backyard with an injury. With the cut and everything, the fight went the way it did. No-one gives me the credit I deserve for what I’ve done so far. I don’t need to prove anything. I believe I’m right at the top. I do believe I’m right up there and I’m going to prove it.”

He could well be top #5, I wouldn't know as I don't have the patience to watch his fights

Hughe has potential, but he needs another couple of years at Euro and fringe level. Anyone in top 10 beats him easily.
He should be looking at winner of Allen vs Price.

He thinks he’s better than that doesn’t he. But that’s the level he needs to look at. He’s not even fought any euro level guys. I don’t get why he’s trying to rush his career. Whether it’s his dad trying to rush it? Or himself..tigermoth87 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 06:41 Hughe has potential, but he needs another couple of years at Euro and fringe level. Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Putting him close to the top says more about the level of the heavyweights!
British wise, his cousin, Whyte, Dubois, Joyce, and AJ are def ahead of him at the moment.
He needs to start fighting at a higher level and put his money where his mouth is
It's one thing taking on the Peters of this world to tick over and keep busy, but he needs to start fighting the top 20 first, the Hammer's, Chisora's, Helenius's etc

He's not getting close to top 20 unless he changes trainer

Needs to learn how to throw a straight right first. And then master the hook and uppercut.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Everyone knew Peter was going to quit around the middle rounds. Hughie doesn't have any power so his style revolves around that fact. So he's a total bore to watch. He also doesn't have a personality like his cousin either.
They think he's a main event star, but all the shows he's the main on flop. He needs to sign with Frank or Eddie and just continue to potter away on the under-cards of big events.

Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
I love H. Fury but there's no way in hell did beating the echo of Sam Peter warrant a top five, top ten, top fifteen or top twenty spot. As far as I'm concerned he lost to Pulev and had basically two meaningless fights since. He's outside the top 20 and he needs to keep on fighting and raise his damn profile. If he honestly thinks that match did anything for him he's delusional. The worst thing he ever did was give up the British title. He ought to be calling out Joyce and Dubois, not the top guys.

I could be proven wrong in the long run. But I don't see Hughie being much more than domestic level
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
While being a fan of Peter Fury, Hughie seems to have plateaued, and a change wouldn't hurt him.
He needs to step up, even loses at top level won't hurt him.
Pulev prob did him a favour.
However if he stays at a low level to keep winning so he will get a shot won't be any good, because he won't be prepared.
Cashing out is another thing.

Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
I’d have him 7th in the UK maybe top 20 in the world
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
That's about right, and won't change until he steps up his opposition.
He's a good fighter, quality amateur and British champ, but at the moment that's as far as it goes, more Gorman than Dubois!
It will be tough for him to get the good fights as he is horrible to watch and impossible to look good against!
Not exactly TV friendly either fighting or personality wise.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
1.
2.
3. Parker
4. Pulev
5. Hughie
Only two places for Ruiz, Tyson, Wilder, AJ, Whyte, Povetkin, Ortiz and others that are clearly better than him...

Dubois beats Hughie.
Forget that the White Rhino beats Hughie.
Hughie is deluded!

I saw on another forum people comparing Hughie's over inflated self worth to Khan's.
I completely disagree. At least Khan has accomplished some things in his career.
Hughie has zero decent wins on his resume.
His only 2 times he stepped up he lost.
The guy is a domestic level fighter

Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Is he top 5 UK? Allen's got a better win than he's ever had now:
1. T.Fury
2. AJ
3. Whyte
4. Chisora
5. Joyce (he's debut almost = Hughie's best win)
6. Dubois (Gorman is better than Hughie's best win)
7. Allen
8. H.Fury
Bless him he's convinced he beat Parker #shadesofali

Not to say that Hughie couldn't be the man one day - he's got some lovely fundamentals.
But he'd have to find some power, some drawing-power, change his style.. it's just not going to happen is it ? Could still have a good career and be in some good fights though - just make sure he fights aggressive come-forward types.
Joyce, Gorman or Dubois for the British would be another great card like the other night.

I'd like to see him fight Hrgovic in a battle of upright amateur skills. Or Makhmudov, to see if he can exploit him as a bigger version of Kudryashov. There's a matador-bull angle to that one, so long as they keep Mak away from VADA.
I'd also watch him fight Joyce.
