Round-by-Round: Daniel Dubois vs. Nathan Gorman - 13 July 2019
Re: Round-by-Round: Daniel Dubois vs. Nathan Gorman - 13 July 2019
Jab and then right hand is all good to defeat the likes of Gorman. I do think DD is putting on to much muscle and he also has zero head movement. Thought he looked massive last night and after the problems with AJ I fear he will go the same way if he keeps hitting the weights and not moving his head

You've got to give it to Dubois. This was considered an even fight, they had similar records but Gorman was slightly more experienced and was taking some false confidence (as it turned out) from some sparring sessions the two had over 4 years ago. It just shows how much Dubois has come on as a pro compared to Gorman. Gorman now finds himself trying to catch up even though he's older and more experienced. Good show.

Sensational match by Dubois. He throws bombs, moves and can take one punch, never stepping back
Re: Round-by-Round: Daniel Dubois vs. Nathan Gorman - 13 July 2019
Haye looked much much smaller than that next to Tyson when they were giving their options. Haye is good actor, or he is really over himself now.

Dubois is a terrific puncher, but he's pretty wide open when he throws. Someone will exploit that.
Re: Round-by-Round: Daniel Dubois vs. Nathan Gorman - 13 July 2019
That’s why he needs to avoid chasing world titles.
The current top guys in division are probably the worse I can remember ever ... and at this stage, after 1 or two washed up former contenders, you’d imagine he could be put in with whoever has got the belts.
But I think whoever is guiding him needs to resist that, and allow him to develop and actually learn.

No.
Just kidding, i actually think people are harsh on Gorman. He's not world level by any means but Dubois is, and last night people recognised that. I won big with the KO

Dubois has great intensity I love it. His focus is incredible. He’s on the muscle heavy side but not gone too far beyond on that scale yet to really slow him down. He’s not the finished article for sure, but I think his ceiling is very high. I’m a fan.

Very impressed by Dubois. He is only 21. Has plenty of time to develop. Hope he not in a rush. Head too static when throwing the wide angle bombs. His basics good plenty to work off as long as he stays off the bulking.

Didn't catch the BT Sport bill.
Bit better than the Amir Khan bill on Friday, was it?

Dubois looked great, he made easy work of Gorman who I rated.
Gorman is still young, he needs a new trainer because his flaws were exposed here.
He can definitely improve though.

Definitely not. When fighters do that, they suddenly get up at 9. Gorman was too dazed to have that awareness of mind having had his head punched inforcefraser wrote: ↑14 Jul 2019, 06:12 Did Gorman quit? Did he do a Malik Scott/Charles Martin and miscount the count on purpose?

A poor sowing from Gorman, I don't know what his game plan was but he looked lost in there. I don't think it was because Dubois was offering anything out of the ordinary because he wasn't.

Class from Gorman, and he can come again at a decent level.
Dubois looked a million dollars, looking forward to how he will handle tougher fights

Gorman doubled up his left right at the start, which is exactly how Bruno caught Tyson in their first fight, when Tyson was looking to counter Bruno's right and didn't see it.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 06:39Gorman is still young, he needs a new trainer because his flaws were exposed here.
Meanwhile, in a video of Bruno on the pads with Dubois, he told him (as Frank always does) to sit down on his double jab more often, and that's how he finished Gorman. Dunno if it was random chance or Dubois' a good listener, but his lack of head movement was mitigated by his alert spacing. He didn't fall in or freeze, which is impressive for his age.
I think Gorman can have a Scott Welch sort of career. Maybe he'll get back to his fundamentals now that a loss has taken away some of that emotional pressure.

Fury would've always clinched the energy out of Haye, so I think it's all a case of whether he landed before that happened. I'd have backed him in 2012, but when they were supposed to meet he had training niggles and I had doubts. I still leant towards him, but it could've gone either way in 2013 for me.

I keep asking this but nobody seems to give a very convincing answer. How is Gorman anything more than a plodder? He seems a nice guy, but why can he ‘come again’? What skills has he shown?
The old Frankie Gavin syndrome strikes again with some fans. Odd.

I agree with you. I've never been impressed by Gorman. He has a lot of fans that hype him.Riddick Blowe wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 19:17 I keep asking this but nobody seems to give a very convincing answer. How is Gorman anything more than a plodder? I think he can come again, but not at world level, nothing wrong with being a British champion. He is better than Dave Allen.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 19:23I agree with you.
