Even then, he's borderline top 5

He's a talent and I wouldn't write him off - but I was disapointed in the Pulev fight - I honestly thought the Parker fight was a lesson to him and he would have kicked on more.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
I agree, I've always rated him, but he needs to fight and beat the better fighters if he wants to be mentioned in the same sentence as them.

He said the cut in the Pulev fight happened so early and it ruined the fight for him.
I also noticed. He didn’t do too bad at the start. Until the cut appeared.

I would, hes hot talent, but he lacks the minerals to make a real fight of it. Hes not going to change, his career will be the same thtoughout, never quite making enough effort to win the meaningful fights.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Minerals may be the thing.
Tyson is a defensive, non risk taking fighter, but he doesn't run, he steps in and out of the pocket and slips and slides.
Hughie runs out of the pocket and gets on his bike.
Hughie for me def doesn't lack talent, he has all the tools that Tyson does, but does he have the minerals.

Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Possibly, undeed probably - I "forgave" him the Parker one, only listening to it on the radio mind..... I chalked that down to experience - his camp seemed very confident he was winning handily, home advatange etc. DLH go the tactics wrong vs Trinidad but we cannot question his stones.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑17 Jul 2019, 08:47I would, hes hot talent, but he lacks the minerals to make a real fight of it. And when he came back to outclass Sexton (okay a much lower level) I thought - right he has changed..... but boom against Pulev it was back to the same Fury.
To be fair much of his way of fighting is very similar to his cousin, except for the Wilder fight (and in reality only a few rounds there)..... but he needs to showcase he's learned from these set backs - I'm still prepared to give him one more chance.

Cool, if cuts mean he loses fighters, all he needs to do is never get cut in a boxing match

Hughie is not Tyson. Tyson is criminally underrated on here.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
He is deluded he isnt top 5 in britain let alone the worldRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Jul 2019, 04:48 Heavyweight contender Hughie Fury (23-2, 13 KOs) feels ready for a major fight against anyone in the division - including the world champions.
“I put myself in the top five in the world,” Fury said to The Mirror. “I’m coming out now and doing it. Whoever wants it, I’m ready for them. I’m not afraid to fight anyone.
“I would not be in this game if I didn’t think I had the beating of them all to become world champion. That’s my mentality. I’m a boxer to become world champion. That’s my goal and I believe I will get there.
“I would back myself against any of the other top fighters in the world and hopefully these are the fights we’re going to get. I believe I beat Parker. I believe I should already be world champion and it’s all to do with politics.
“Then I took the fight with Pulev and had a bit of bad luck there. I went over there to his backyard with an injury. With the cut and everything, the fight went the way it did. No-one gives me the credit I deserve for what I’ve done so far. I don’t need to prove anything. I believe I’m right at the top. I do believe I’m right up there and I’m going to prove it.”

Don’t think so Mickey, probably 90% have him the number one in the world now.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Baby Hughie was a top five cartoon character back in the day.
If anything “Tyson is criminally” overrated “on here.”

Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
I wouldn't say I was the top fighter in the world . But I was in the top one. dont mean much though does it, i was uninpressed with hughie in the fight far too predictable, left jab over hand right all night ,and it never landed either , i say this because hughie is better than this , i think it is time he got new trainer , not saying Peter Fury bad, but i think he needs to freshen it up , eager to impress some one new or fightened to mug themselves of

Spent his whole career trading on tyson’s name. Without that he’s a feather fisted nobody.

His ko of Sexton was excellent. I know it’s only Sexton, but I thought it would encourage Hughie to sit down on his shots a bit more. Doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen unfortunately.
Re: Hughie Fury: I Put Myself in The Top Five in The World
Without the family name and the family money (to pay his opponents purses) he would be on twitter begging to fight Dave Allenoogiebe wrote: ↑18 Jul 2019, 19:49Exactly right.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑18 Jul 2019, 19:08 Spent his whole career trading on tyson’s name. He was junior world amateur heavy champ, I'm sure someone would have invested in him even if his name was Partridge!
Also the reason his Dad invests is because he wants control

I meant with regard to the level he sees himself at. Don’t think he punches hard enough to deter anybody in the world top 10 from walking through himCoco wrote: ↑19 Jul 2019, 04:38Yeah, British champ, feather fisted nobodyCaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑18 Jul 2019, 19:08 Spent his whole career trading on tyson’s name.
