Calzaghe-Johnson, are you sure

light heavy paul briggs has just today said that joe calzaghe has asked him for a fight. today! at super middleweight so there's no fucki_ng way and Briggs - a pretty big light heavy - says he'snot made 168 for 10 yrs

so what does this have to say about the status of calzaghe-johnson?

You still need some time to prepare yourself for a southpaw. 5 weeks is a bit short.

Last time Briggs fought a southpaw, almost 2 years ago, he won in impressive fashion.

S-O.com had the news about the Johnson fight I think May 20th. It looks pretty solid now, it should go ahead.

This news is 4 hours old. Why is JC still calling different opponents?

And I find calling out Briggs but *only* at 168 very, very funny.

Joe's way or the highway. He makes a stink about going to 175, until he gets a guy who is made for 175, then askes to come to 168. Johnson spanned over multiple weights, so of course Joe would go up to 175 seeing as Glen was once as low as MW. Joe has been 165 to 170 his entire career, and won't fight a bigger man at a bigger weight. Isn't Johnson at 170 as well?

thats why calzaghe johnson is stumbling isnt it? over weight? pergaps warren is afraid calzaghe will faulter at the extra 7lbs in short notice like hatton did.

"He (insert name), is a good fighter, but I am better, faster and quicker than (insert name).
(insert name) has a good record , but I am a legend and (insert name) is old and past it, oops I mena young and hungry. I have given (insert name) lots of time to prepare for the fight, nearly 5 weeks for the Warren Boxing Organistauion catchweight title. Thats enough time for (insert name) to prepare for a legend like me."

i'd love to see that fight happen. i think it will one day. if calzaghe-johnson doesn't happen, i think woods-johnson III would be very welcome and very likely. if woods can win - & i think he has a very good chance - it will really make him on the world stage

hopefully briggs and adamek get together after their tune ups. it's disgraceful, king not doing anything with these guys. ten years ago he would've kept 'em busy on undercards at the very least. if tarver would've gone with king - sloppy pattycake tarver with little stamina - king would've been raving loads of shit about Kryptonite Tarver & milking it for all it was worth

If Woods got in with Johnson and won, I don't think he gets much past there. I can't really see him beating Johnson, especially after he chose DeLisle over Glen for their last fight, and even if he does, he won't do anything against Adamek, Erdei, Briggs or Tarver.

so, it's soon going to be announced who Calzaghe's foe is, someone US based. then, it's 'expected that Glen Johnson will be the foe'. now, it's 'almost certain that Glen Johnson will be the foe, they're just waiting for him to sign the contract'. & SN are on the phone to Paul Briggs yesterday! i'm soon going to lose interest, why is there so much pissing about over who the next opponent is? are Calzaghe's hands so messed up that they have to bugger potential foes about? do they even really want Johnson, who might not have the ideal time to get ready but has fought southpaws in his last 4 fights?

i can't believe they INSISTING on 168. they fornicating_ need Johnson. what foolishness. if they wanted to fight at super middleweight they should've gone for Kessler. I'm sick of this. I will soon convert from Calzagheism to Kesslerism unless something happens soon to change my mind

1 of 2 things happened here:

1. You mistook Kessler for Beyer, whom Calzaghe did offer a joke purse to that Markus wouldn't even take for a gimme fight.

2. You know some inside info none of us do because Kess is the one name Calzaghe has managed to avoid calling out over the past 3 months.
