Michael Buffer
Re: Michael Buffer
It's not Buffer's fault that promoters need to pay him for a few minutes work to create the illusion that their fights are meaningful world class events.
Re: Michael Buffer
"I love to hear that voice before a big fight," said no one ever. I don't see the allure at all. Wasted money.

Buffy has that history behind him.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑21 Jul 2019, 12:01When I was a kid I preferred Buffer’s melodramatic delivery & exciting catchphrase; when I got older, I preferred Lennon Jr’s more straightforward, no-nonsense style. I’m a big fan of Diamanté now too, don’t see any reason why Buffer is even still booked tbh.
As a kid I heard him announce such pivitol fights that impacted me for life. Having him gone, and someone new replacing him is like a new puppy chewing your favourite pair of old boots. You love the new puppy, it can't help it, but those boots took you places that held fond memories. The old dog is gone, the piss stains on the carpet where his aging bladder gave out the only memory.

Hysterical! I grew up on Jimmy Lennon SR. He was by far the GOAT!KiwiRider wrote: ↑21 Jul 2019, 18:27Buffy has that history behind him.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑21 Jul 2019, 12:01

Re: Michael Buffer
Buffer is not worth 400 million, total rubbish.
Re: Michael Buffer
He has been a big earner for decades, as they say " it takes money to make money " so good investments over 40 years can easily add up. He has been recession proof for 3 big ones.
You would only have to have 50 grand at the start of bitcoin for example, to be a mulit millionaire. Or bought property in the 80's, 90's recessions and sold off at peak to double or more, your stake.

Re: Michael Buffer
Didnt he copyright the Lets Get Ready To Rumble phrase?
Either way I prefer Lennon Jr or Diamante these days, it was cool at first seeing Buffer work the UK shows but Britain is such a powerhouse in boxing these days we've outgrown him, keep Diamante full time, he knows his stuff and does his homework, I seen him on IFL the other day talking about Area titles

Actually it was Paul Gwweeeerrr vs No-one. He read Dodson’s record but didn’t even say his name!chrisnew86 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2019, 04:29CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑21 Jul 2019, 03:01 Love these threads. Wildly varying estimates as to what he earns / what he’s worth alongside fairly harsh but true critiques of his “contribution”, usually rounded off by way of a comparison with Buffer by someone posting a link to the eternally hilarious Smith v Dodson introductions.
Dobson v Gwerrrrrrrrrrr you mean ?
Forget buffer, this is how it’s done lads:

Few hundred quid, get John McDonald on the case. Saves time by not introducing both fighters or even saying their names right. Sorted!

Re: Michael Buffer
Yes I agree, he used to add that bit of glamour to boxing as you only used to see him for the very big fights...now I expect to see him at Brentwood leisure centre for an southern area titleNightmare Roy wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:03 Used to love it as a kid, maybe that’s because it was a one off or every now and then at superfights that I saw him. Now he turns up for a midlands intercontinental area title eliminator it seems![]()

Re: Michael Buffer
I’ve just realised Ant and Dec must have paid through the arse in royalties for that hit of theirs.
Re: Michael Buffer
Lennon jr is the best, but doesnt he do a full show and more than buffer usually? I think Lennon is only showtime ie (CBS). I think maybe he was on the disney (fox, espn) networks.
Buffer is ok, but kind of drags on things.
Now I might be hurting feelings but that DAZN guy is like nails on a chalkboard. He has dredds and a mustache. Interestingly he has grown on me, but he is tough to hear. In Providence, RI I muted him, I think it was just bad production made him worse. This past weekend he was tolerable.

Here’s my favourite mc John McDonald moment.
Re: Michael Buffer
Feel sorry for Craig Stephens who is decent but now is rarely on tv at all.
I can't understand it.....diamonde and in bt, Thomas triber get flown over....both, with Lupe contreras and a couple of others get gigs in their homeland so I don't think any are cheap cheap.....whats the point of all of them.
Jimmy lennon jnr is the goat....he did a real poor ibo bill in Germany early this year (on allegedly) got shipped in for 2 fights admittedly but did some of his introduction in German....classy!
Sky piss me off with wheeling in buffer to dance to sweet caroline....oh look at buff having fun!!

Will never forget the classic "PAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUULLLLLLLL SARSGAHHHHHHHHHHHH"
I don't get Buffer these days. Clearly doesn't care that much these days. Gets paid a fortune to read names off a piece of paper and keeps fvcking up names/words/sentences. He has one job

To be honest I'd piss myself at that gay little dance he did.
