Don't want to kick the man when he's down. He is a fighter who has made a career off of social media and fair play to the man. Boxing wise he is bang average and would be lucky to pick up the English let alone British title. I thought he would get passed Price down to price gassing after 5 rounds but it shows just how basic Allen is by putting in a worse show than kash Ali. He made a nice amount of
Money and now he is set up for life. He seems like a nice man and I hope he does retire for good and enjoy life from now on

I would understand if this was the end for him, it's better to leave early with all your senses and financially secure rather then too late and with nothing to show for it.

At the same time though, I don't think this wil be the end of his career. Leaving boxing is hard, especially when you had such a strong fan following like he developed, add in the every day training and then suddenly having that absence in the day to day life, it is a very hard void to fill.
Looking at the rankings and who is coming through, I could see him maybe having 1 or 2 more fights at the British ranked level or maybe a Commonwealth or European ranked opponent, then finishing on a strong performance win or lose but definitely not this year. Hopefully he'll make use of the rest of this year to recover to 100%, train hard and see how he performs in the gym, then see what he wants to do.

Webb and Browne, for example. I haven’t seen your post, seven UK guys streets ahead of him - Fury, Whyte, AJ, Chisora, Price, Hughie and DD? I won’t argue with that. The point is - as someone else posted -the Price match was a fair one. Price turned up last night and was better than he has sometimes been in the past. That’s why it played out the way it did.
I'd also pick bakole and Gorman over him any day. But yeah, all credit to price.

Allen has come out saying he's been suffering headaches since his TKO loss to Yoka, along with 'other' health issues. Makes me feel bad for him. That could portend serious conditions up to life threatening issues. Hopefully it's not as bad as I assume, but it ain't good. I really like him too. Such a likable guy.

Well he says he has bad health and is old but is only 27 so what is he talking bout?
No idea, but it’s a bit weird to jump straight to cancer or AIDS tbh
When I was watching the fight and saw how Allen couldn't get past Price's jab, the first thing I suspected was that Allen had developed full-blown AIDS.

its sad but the lack of head movement showed that he could very well be riddled with it.

He sounds like James toney but with a Yorkshire accent
So not like James Toney at all then.

I love Dave Allen but can’t agree that Webb and Browne are big wins. Webb went on to get chinned by sokolowski and Browne really is shot and might even lose to Tom little.

He'd make fairly decent money against Shannon Briggs (if he ever does come back). It'd be almost a novelty fight, but both personalities could sell the fight well.

Sadly I doubt he's really done with boxing, but I hope he is done as to lose in such a manner to this version of Price shows exactly where he is in what has become a very strong domestic scene. He's just not even at that level and can only see similar results in his future & no-one wants that for him. Plus he's complaining publicly about his health, I'd like to see the board take some responsibility here & investigate that before he ever fights again, that is if he decides to carry on.

To be fair, Price really fought to his physical attributes and in doing so gave Allen almost zero chance. Yes, Allen didn't perform very well but I think the dominance was more to do with how well Price boxed as opposed to Allen being poor.

Totally, but a lot of folk would watch it. Otherwise who else would be a big enough name to make it worth his while staying on in the sport?

The way he was throwing punches and moving his head on Saturday, it would be tough sledding in the bare knuckles circus.

I think he’ll have a rest until Nov/Dec and will have a couple of journeymen type fights to get him back winning.

Shhhh wrote: 22 Jul 2019, 14:51 BTW does anyone know if the board test for aids at every fight? Rumours are Tommy morrison has AIDS since he was 18 and never did fail until his last fight. I know peeps are joking but it has to be more than mental issues.
Pretty certain they do check - I remember an African fighter on a small hall failing HIV test in bloods.

Would expect HIV, Hepatitis and PED should be standard.
