Why is Scott Harrison refused a license?

Post by Steveh583 »

Now obviously he's knocking on a bit, and I wouldn't expect him to achieve much at a high level anymore, but can anyone explain to me actually why he is being refused a license? I mean we have drug cheats that get three minute bans and reinstated almost immediately, not to mention some of the imports we have over are effing shocking. He seems fit as a butcher's dog from his Twitter videos, I can't fathom why he isn't allowed one last crack.

With 2-3 jail spells and trouble he had to get licence back last time then he got banged up again - with his age the BBBOC won’t get in a hurry to issue him another anytime soon.

The BBBoC probably want to show they hold a firm stance against crisp abusers.

my memory is foggy, wasn't it the same incident? I can't remember. But either way, guys with worse records than him have been relicenced surely? And as he's served his time, isn't it now a restraint of trade? I wouldn't know the legalities obv, just think it's an interesting situation

The board generally refuse licences for over 35, other than the cricketer, they would need a good excuse to do so, and they certainly haven't got one with Harrison.
Also is he still on license from nick? Again they don't licence released jailbirds untill their full term has been served.

He's 42 next month and not fought for 6 years.
The board are doing him a favour.
It's time to find something else to do.

All jokes aside I thought he got a BIBA license and was going to fight under that on a Lee McAllister card until the bout fell through...

Oh I agree. I was just curious as to the legalities. I mean what about people like Matt Skelton or dennis Andries for when they were ancient. Have there been any cases of older men being licensed?

No disrespect to Liam Walsh but on his day he would have beaten him, maybe even by stoppage.
That's getting on for 7 years ago now. Scott was done then, he will end up getting stopped by some 7-0 coming up and that would just be embarrassing. I understand he needs to work but go into training like your Dad.

Talent? If that's a self portrait it's terrible. Looks more like Billy Connolly than Harrison

He has a certain ability but his paintings are fairly crude. I know he had an exhibition recently and he could make some money from it but it was almost certainly based on his name...

Agree he’ll end up the hard journeyman taking a hiding who will go 8-10 with prospects - his time has come and gone and boy did he piss it up a wall.
