The next opponent for Whyte ?

Post by ValMar »

Whyte is the WBC mandatory, but he will have to wait, at least a year. Wilder will face Ortiz, after that Fury, and likely Ruiz-Joshua winner. What should Whyte do ? Would it be clever to waste a year waiting for Wilder ?

He definitely shouldn't just wait. No point in it. If he even loses to someone that won't be that big drawback, it will be a payday at least. Furthermore, Wilder's team with a bigger probability will pick Whyte after he loses. Now I'd prefer to see him against the likes of Povetkin, Miller, Pulev. Any top fighter.

He already said he’s not waiting around. He’d rather earn.

It's reasonable to hope for Kownacki, or maybe Miller or Kabayel. Other than that, maybe Povetkin or Ortiz (if he loses to Wilder)? but the risk probably outweighs the reward there. He's already faced the remaining top guys or they will be booked around then. Worst case scenario is Charr/Bryan winner you'd imagine.

He needs to fight a tall fighter to prep for Wilder and/or Fury. Pricey too easy, maybe Washington or Breazeale.

He should push for the winner of the Ruiz v Joshua rematch next. I wouldn't be waiting around putting my career in the trust of the wbc.

Even he is Interim champion I still don’t think Whyte will get his shot. He should keep fighting tough opponents and maybe get a shot elsewhere if the belts splinter...

I think his best chance of getting a shot is to sign with Haymon. Is he not a free agent on a fight by fight deal at the moment?

I'm actually starting to like Whyte.

He fights regularly, genuinely appears to be willing to fight anyone (at a fair price), gets knocked down and gets up again to win.

What's not to like? The boy deserves a title shot. I hope he gets one.

I’m desperately hoping that we’ve been reading fake news about Dillian Whyte testing positive for banned substances a week ago, because if it’s true, then it’ll be pointless discussing the Brit’s potential next opponent!

You beat me here! LOL! I was going to post something snarky, but thought better of it. I'm astounded at this news.

Povetkin would be a great opponent for him and a real 50/50 fight.

I hope he doesn't go on a bum crushing tour to protect his mandatory, like Miller.

Why those 3 fights? Why not all his fights? Or the fight he failed the test for?

He should face Jarrell Miller in a PED ingestion contest.
