I dont understand

Joshua wants to fight in the USA to avenge his loss. I say fair play to him.

Why are his fans complaining?

So, if I had to guess, I think he's saying he's terrified of a rematch. Ruiz took his soul in that fight.

I tend to agree. He'll retire if he loses that rematch. Past comments of him complaining about preparation and going through "wars" lends me to believe he just doesn't really like this line of work.

that he did not, but where do we draw the line between treating something as legit and deriding it as an excuse?

I was using AJ's words himself. Not sure why a conversation about AJ has to be misdirected to Wilder every single time. Had AJ not said he wanted to fight the rematch in NY to atone for his entire loss, I wouldn't even be discussing the push for the UK. For him to say he wasn't 'up for the fight' is a lame excuse, like it or not. I hope he can turn it around. It would be good for the sport to have a comeback story, but I am in doubt of his mental toughness given all his post fight chatter. Bringing up Wilder doesn't help AJ's situation nor change it.

Agreed. You're not wrong about that. To me it's not the excuses/reasons being said; it's the variety and type. I'm hoping AJ gets his head on straight. None it is doing him any good.

Many fighters have an excuse (or several) when they lose. Often it's a psychological thing to hang onto a reason for losing.

Very few athletes are ever 100% fit for any length of time. There's always some niggle or another, particularly in a competitive or contact sport.

This thread was started with AJ's own video of excuses. Not sure why his fanboys feel compelled to defend him all the time. LIke they have a stake in it or something.

Fans sometimes become over invested in a fighter to the point they need the excuses to somehow validate their man's loss.

Or something like that

Clearly. They fight over someone they've never met with someone they've never met. It's extraordinary.

Because it's a bigger risk and they're fans of Joshua, not of boxing.

Because some people need protecting from themselves. We have seen just how vulnerable Joshua was in the Ruiz fight. Maybe that was an abberation, maybe it wasn't. Yes it's admirable that he wants to go back to MSG but it's also stupid.

If he does that and gets beaten none of those calling for him do that are going to give a sh1t. Some will delight in his failure as they have already. He isn't guaranteed to beat Ruiz in the UK but he owes it to himself to give himself the best chance.

He has one opportunity to win back those titles. Fukc it up and there may never be another.

I admire your loyalty to your man but you're not his carer. If he takes on the challenge and loses, so what?

Maybe he doesn't want a protected record? Maybe he wants to prove himself? Why should you deny him that? He doesn't belong to you.
