Dillian Whyte Tests Positive For Banned Substance

Post by oogiebe »

https://www.BS.com/dillian-why ... ce--141178

Multiple sources have confirmed that an "A" sample taken from Dillian Whyte tested positive for one or more banned substances prior to Whyte's July 20 fight in London against Oscar Rivas. Although Whyte is in the World Boxing Council Clean Boxing Program which is administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), the test in question was administered by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD).

The positive test result is believed to have come back on July 17. A knowledgeable source says that it was reported to the Whyte camp (including promoter Matchroom Boxing) and the British Boxing Board of Control by UKAD prior to Whyte-Rivas. However, the BBBC allowed the fight to proceed as scheduled.

Under rules in place in the United Kingdom, Whyte has a right of appeal. UKAD takes the position that, until the adjudication process is over and due process is complete, there has not been a finding that a fighter is in breach of its PED protocols and no sanctions can be put in place by the British Boxing Board of Control.

The freakin' BBBoC knew before the fight and still let it take place. Deplorable.

You have to replace "BS" with "boxing scene" but without the space. BoxREc doesn't allow it for some reason.

Slack? If true, it's his second time blowing hot. What if Rivas was hurt in the fight? Maximus just freakin' died in the ring.

I don't know. Matchroom was notified three days before the fight. Eddie Hearn ripped Jarrell Miller up after he tested positive but with his own fighter, he let it go on. Lying demented prick.

That doesn't make any of this right. No one who fails twice should be allowed to get a title shot, or maybe even box for a long period of time. As in years. Miller should have been banned for a couple of years, and if Ortiz's fails were not his blood pressure meds, but PED's, then him too.

Yeah, but MIller was also fighting AJ. Rivas isn't matchroom. Are you actually trying to defend this?

I understand. I'm saying in my view they should be banned for a couple of years. They won't get serious on this matter until a ring death is tied to the opponents PED abuse.

This is really disappointing news! However, if Whyte was stupid enough to have cheated, then his poor judgement has cost himself at least $20m in wasted opportunities (i.e. losing out on headlining another PPV, as well as a world title shot).

Because it appeared that way. I see now you were not. I'm just really frustrated with all this. I wanted to see Wilder face Whyte and now that MAY not happen.
