Pulev wants IBF to move up his Title shot

Post by oogiebe »

Kubrat "kisses" Pulev is pushing for a shot at Ruiz rather than Ruiz rematching AJ.

Pulev's camp has submitted a formal petition to the IBF citing their fighter fighting in an eliminator "three years ago" according to the petition. They go on to criticize Eddie Hearn for treating the title as his "private enterprise."

Let the posturing begin!

I think Pulev has a solid argument here. No need to rush a Ruiz Jr vs Joshua rematch. Let Andy face the Bulgarian, this will show us whether he even deserves a big money rematch with AJ.

For historical comparison, I feel that Buster Douglas (after upset KO'ing Mike Tyson) should of had a fight with someone else (like Razor Ruddock) before immediately getting massacred by Holyfield.

Pulev deserves nothing. When was the last time he fought a top contender and beat him? No I don't mean Hughie, Delboy or Peter Ustinov (sic).

This is entirely predictable, I'm only surprised it took him this long. Hopefully the IBF are interested in the sanction fees they have grown accustomed to from Joshua fights, mind you if any of the alphabet boys were going to put principle before profit, it could only be this lot. Commendable in its way I guess.

Pulev is most deserving Heavyweight out there. I just can't believe how much some english fans hate hugie fury and chisora after pulev smoked them.

I remember just about every english fans predicted pulev will lose to both fury and Chisora.

Since Whyte tested positive. I'll have to agree Pulev has long been the #1 contender
Also when Pulev had to pull out of the Joshua match Takam should not of been named mandatory.
Pulev should of already has his shot

@ Boxtune: So answer the question then: Has he fought Wilder, Joshua, TFury, Whyte, Povetkin, Ortiz, Parker, Ruiz? What, none of them? How about Stiverne, Breazeale, Jennings, Takam, Kabayel, no? How about Arreola he must have fought Arreola surely? So apart from getting destroyed by Wlad who is his best win, Chisora? Ustinov? Thompson?, Johnson?, a totally washed up Sam Peter?

I don't deny the man can box, has a superb jab, an underrated body attack but he has avoided the top guys since Wlad exposed his limitations, and he aint getting any younger. He didn't strike me as gutted exactly when he had to pull out of the Joshua fight either, and if you think I've got anything against him because he beat Hughie or Chisora, you are very much mistaken.

You recently attacked Whyte for not wanting to fight him in Sofia for 25% of not much, in order to earn the right to fight Joshua for the 25% mandatory share. Apart from the fact they are stable-mates and can fight each other any time it suits them both, he decided to take on a fighter (Parker) who is not shy of taking on the top guys, and in a PPV match that the makes the Pulev purse look like loose change.

I can't imagine that, TBH. Pulev has a great jab and some toughness, but Ruiz has the handspeed, power and better overall skillset. Maybe if Pulev jabs and holds and makes a stinker of a fight over 12 rounds.

Pulev soundly beat Hughie who I thought might be too young and mobile for him. Hughie was very disappointing even allowing for the cut which won't have helped him.

He did hit Pulev though with a shot that turned his legs to rubber, then stood off long enough for Pulev to recover, Maybe he was too tired to press his advantage. I was very surprised because Fury isn't known as a puncher. I think age has caught up with him because HFury is no Klitschko.

At this stage I think he'd be food for a Kownacki or someone with a bit of power. We may not find out though because Kubrat is very good at selecting opponents that he is confident he has the beating of.

Age catching up with Pulev dumbass. Can't say that about you. I'm guessing you're what, fourteen or thereabouts?

As for nonsense hate talk that seems to be your specialty: 1776 and 1812 are long ago, get over it.

I've got nothing against Kubrat Pulev. I just think he has managed to maintain a very high ranking for a lot of years without doing very much at all to deserve it.

Didn’t Pulev temporarily lose his shot due to injury and the IBF allowed Takam to be a mandatory defence instead? Now he has to wait for the next time the IBF order a mandatory defence which can’t be before the signed rematch so I guess it would be sometime in Q1 2020...

I'm intrigued by that comment IB, even though I've never watched Austin Powers. Even the clips are so cringeworthy they make my toes curl. Care to satisfy my curiosity ?
