New WBO Rankings JULY 2019

Post by oogiebe »

1-Usyk
2-Fury
3-Dillian Whyte
4-Anthony Joshua
5-Oscar Rivas
6-Tyrone Sprong (?)
7-Junior Fa (?)
8-Daniel Dubois
9-Agit Kabayel
10-Evegny Romanov
11-Ali Eren Demirezin (?)
12-Michael Hunter
13-Carlos Takam
14-Tom Schwarz (?)
15-Zhilei Zhang (?)

(?) indicates, well ,the most ridiculous.

This was released after this past Saturday ,but I believe established before. Weak rankings. WBO seems to be worst of the lot.

The order is weird, but the top 5 is pretty strong. However, after that it gets a bit iffy.

Having the newly crowned British champ ahead of the long reigning Euro champ is strange (Warren's doing, no doubt).

Also having Takam there ahead of Chisora who knocked him out recently is also off.

Weak doesn't do them justice. They're absurd. It's both sad and disgusting that these bodies can somehow play such a prominent part in boxing despite their utter ridiculousness. Anyway, I thought I'd see where each boxer was ranked by boxrec.

1-Usyk boxrec # 1 @ cruiserweight
2-Fury # 4
3-Dillian Whyte # 6
4-Anthony Joshua # 3
5-Oscar Rivas # 14
6-Tyrone Sprong (?) # 75
7-Junior Fa (?) # 77
8-Daniel Dubois # 27
9-Agit Kabayel # 29
10-Evegny Romanov # 23
11-Ali Eren Demirezin (?) # 46
12-Michael Hunter # 39
13-Carlos Takam # 26
14-Tom Schwarz (?) # 58
15-Zhilei Zhang (?) # 84

The rankings start okay but then descend to madness. At least Chris Lovejoys not ranked though

Demirezen at 11? A bit leftfield but it's not bonkers, at least not by WBO standards, however ... Where TF is Efe Ajagba ?

Ok. Thanks I didn't realize these pre-dated the Ajagba fight and are just being discussed now.
