Wow, this is a great unification match and seems to going under the radar.

This pair may not be superstars of boxing, but they are both excellent fighters, so bear these fights in mind when people keep saying "the problem with boxing is no one fights each other".

Hooker is improving his game all the time and Ramirez will have to raise his game from his last performance. I think he can and Jose wins.

No idea who wins this and that’s usually a very good sign.

Both can be inconsistent and both usually in good, close fights. Even when they shouldn’t be. Whoever wants it more will get it I think.

Ramirez to get dropped and win in the last 3 final prediction.

This didn’t disappoint.

Ramirez finished good. Hurt him with a hook then just stepped on the gas and threw about 20 punches.

When Hooker is hurt on the ropes, Ramirez misses with a right hand then uses the same hand to push down Hooker’s right hand and make space for the left hook which ended the fight.

Hope he fights Prograis/Taylor soon as possible.

Excellent fight it didn't disappoint, more than made up for the Farmer/Frenois snoozer, I thought Ramirez was superb from the opening bell, he was a bit fortunate to get gifted a knockdown in the 1st, he stood on Hooker's foot but still for the most part he bullied Hooker especially up close where he battered him with bodyshots, hooks to the head and uppercuts through the middle, Hooker made things hard on himself by laying on the ropes taking punishment, he was at his best when he was jabbing in the middle of the ring but really he wasn't really at the races he played into Ramirez's hands

The finish was first class, Ramirez wobbled Hooker with a mossive left hook and I counted 10 punches landed before the ref stepped in, the last couple of shots especially pinged Hooker's head back as the ref stopped it, great finishing and accuracy from Ramirez

Great win but slow arsed referee should’ve been much closer after Hooker was hurt by that 1st punch, Instead he stays over the other side of the ring and Ramirez gets two or three huge shots in that shouldn’t have landed. That was brutal, with the guys poor kids crying at ringside.

Referee needs to be called out on that one, especially after the tragic week we have had.

Professional boxing is no place for kids of that age to be.
Ramirez finished it quickly and accurately, maybe the last shot was unnecessary tho.

I said in my other post it was a great, fast finish. I didn’t see where the ref was but he really did wobbled him once then just unload.

What would Big Ron have called it?

I’ve been going to shows since I was tiny. I never know if it’s a good thing bringing kids though. I suppose it’s a parent’s choice.

I thought the stoppage was fine, ive seen a few people including Andre Ward criticise the ref but I thought it was more or less bang on

Of course it was a late stoppage, he was out on his feet with his head wobbling on his neck, and two or three punches landed after that.
That is a late stoppage.

Those punches came in like half a second and the ref ran over quick , I really think it was a tiny tiny window , it all happened so quick and sudden

Really enjoyable fight this, Ramirez looked superb and mixed his work to body & head really nicely (left hook downstairs is a class shot of his). Hopefully Ramirez gets the 140 WBSS winner for all of the titles :TU:

Cracking fight. Jose showed why he might be the best light welterweight in the world.

He set a blistering pace from the first bell and didn't once over think things, just letting his punches go with real quality.

I didn't see the end coming in the 6th round. Ramirez caught Hooker with a pin-point left hook on the chin, saw the wobble, then blitzed him on the ropes with about 8 or 9 accurate shots.

My first thought was that the ref was bit slow to Jump in, but it happened very, very quickly.

Boxing fans are in for a treat if Ramirez faces the winner of Taylor-Prograis.

You can see the 4 of the meeting several times in next few years regardless of who wins WBSS.

Let's hope so!

When you've got so many quality fighters in the world at 10 stone, mix & match them and it will quickly become a revered era for the light welters. Ivan Baranchyk should still be figuring in the mix too.

They all have the styles and attitude to make for terrific fights.
