Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin - 14 September 2019
Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Otto Wallin have come to terms to meet on Sept. 14, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN on Friday.
The fight, which will headline a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ card, will take place at an MGM property in Las Vegas, meaning the MGM Grand Garden Arena, T-Mobile Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center, Moretti said.
"The paperwork is being drafted, but there is an agreement," Moretti said.
Top Rank chairman Bob Arum and Wallin promoter Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions have been talking about the possibility of the bout for about a week, Moretti said.
Other available fighters Top Rank discussed as a possible opponent for Fury included former world title challenger Johann Duhaupas (37-5, 24 KOs) of France and New Zealand's unbeaten-but-untested Junior Fa (18-0, 10 KOs).
Fury (28-0-1, 20 KOs), 30, of England, will fight for the second time since signing a co-promotional deal with Top Rank in February. He debuted for the company, which co-promotes him with allegedly, on June 15 and knocked out Germany's then-unbeaten Tom Schwarz in the second round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on ESPN+.
"I think it's great Tyson Fury wants to get right back in the ring and stay active," Moretti said. "It's something uncommon nowadays."
A Fury victory would set him up for an already-agreed-upon rematch with world titleholder Deontay Wilder in early 2020. Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs), who fought to a controversial draw with Fury on Dec. 1 in Los Angeles, also is scheduled for an interim bout. He is supposed to face Luis "King Kong" Ortiz in a rematch that likely will take place on Nov. 9 at a site to be determined.
The untested Wallin (20-0, 13 KOs), 28, of Sweden, made his U.S. debut in his last fight, a first-round no-contest against journeyman Nick Kisner on April 13 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. That Showtime-televised fight ended because Kisner suffered a bad cut caused by an accidental head butt and was unable to continue.

Wallin has had bad luck his past 2 fights. Since signing with Salita.
That’s why I put in the ‘no contest’ option.

Another easy night for The Gypsy King. A stay busy option, while Wilder is signed for Ortiz.

Ha ha hilarious who the f**k is this bum they’ve found now

Embarrassing.
That's what happens when you sign a 3 fight deal and the third fight is Wilder though. First fight in the deal should have been Wilder.

I'm sure he'll make a big entrance or wear a top hat. Pointless again.

These are the guys he shoulda fought before WIlder the first time, as comeback opponents after 3 years out. They are not acceptable for a "Lineal Heavyweight Champion" who is the most active guy in the top of the division when looked at the last year.

In all seriousness though, of you swapped their recent opponent choices, Tyson would probably have an additional victory over Pulev, then facing Povetkin up next. While Hughie would be building himself with likely wins over Schwarz and Wallin.
Both would be better for it, but instead we have Tyson's one-sided victory(s) and Hughie's likely one sided losses.

It's actually a better fight than I was expecting. If he fights Wilder again next afterwards I don't have an issue with it.
Whilst Waller is nothing special, he's still a decent unbeaten fighter. He's a little bit of a unknown quantity in a way aswell because he's not really been tested.

Fury is a fraud. pathetic matchup.

Interesting, hadn't thought of that.joshj909 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2019, 16:02In all seriousness though, of you swapped their recent opponent choices, Tyson would probably have an additional victory over Pulev, then facing Povetkin up next. All said and done, Wallin is an acceptable opponent for Tyson.

TBF, if you take out everyone's two best opponents, usually quality of opposition goes down a lot.

True, but we're talking about Fury here. He runs his mouth and then fights the likes of Schwarz and Wallin? He's one of the top two HW's right now and won't fight someone better? C'mon man!margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Aug 2019, 16:40 TBF, if you take out everyone's two best opponents, usually quality of opposition goes down a lot.

Well if we take out there 2 best opponents, Wilder vs Fury is really just a fight between two frauds then?
Re: Tyson Fury has a greed terms to fight Otto Wallin
I'm not comparing Wilder to Fury here. I'm talking the last two years since Tyson's been back. You don't think Fury should fight someone better? The guy's getting paid oodles of money to fight second and third rate HW's.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Aug 2019, 16:44 Well if we take out there 2 best opponents, Wilder vs Fury is really just a fight between two frauds then?
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin - 14 September 2019
I don't think it will happen. Wilder will know by now that he lost the first one and will not risk it againThereByTheGrace wrote: ↑02 Aug 2019, 16:30Yep. Not good for the fans but as long as that fight happens next no one will be too fussed

As I said, take away everyone's two best opponents, and a ton of guys have much worse opposition
