Moving Interview with Tommy Coyle and Jamie Moore

Apologies if I'm late with this but just saw this great interview with Tommy Coyle on potential retirement and how hard it is for boxers to walk away from the sport. Very moving stuff and it made me think about what sort of support and guidance the BBBoC do for boxers post retirement. I could imagine it could be incredibly difficult for fighters whose lives revolve around boxing and don't have an aptitude for training others. I'm a trainee counsellor and think retiring boxers would benefit greatly from some counselling to help cope with the empty feeling after leaving boxing.

Yeah that was a tough watch. That's the thing. For a lot of these guys, it isn't just a job, it's something they love to do aswell and when you have to give that up, it's very tough.

Its hard , but it gets easier , you just have to find something else to do , its not just boxing its anything your passionate about ,

And then you have to find something else to which isn't too bad for you. If you are looking for your thrills drugs wise it will end badly.

Coyle slurring and sounds very punchy, he really needs to stay away from taking more shots to the head. Good to see Moore has got his best interests at heart,

I’ve known Tommy for a good 15 years. He does amazing things around Hull. He’s a nice man. Thought he was chavish in his younger days. Another guy from that area charges to hand out trophies to kids. Fact.

Each to their own, but anything else within boxing is a poor second best.
If you are content about things yes get involved, it would be great.
However as a replacement for something it won't cut it.

Bittersweet to watch that,very poignant too but at least he`s able to retire whilst he still has the choice.
It has to end somewhere though,and to finish after fighting on a big bill in NY financially OK, and with good people around you, is winning isn`t it.

I haven’t really heard Coyle talk much before, is that his normal manner because he sounded like he was slurring a bit and struggling with some words. Perhaps it was just the emotion of the occasion that got to him...
