Covington has to be one of the least likable fighters in the UFC. I hope Usman smashes him to pieces.

What a shitshow that main event was.. It is a good thing it was an early show, because I probably would've fell asleep had it been at the normal hour. Lawler looks like a spent fighter at this point.

I think he's funny. I hope he smashes usaman. Speaking of unlikeable, I love seeing guida lose.

Weird that you hate Cejudo but like Covington seeing as Covington is a much bigger prick than Henry.

I don't see how anyone could find Covington funny.. unless they get amused by everyone else thinking that he's not funny.

At the time though, whilst Colby was brilliant, it almost felt like Robbie couldn't pull the trigger.
Colby didn't allow him. 600+ strikes is absolutely unbelievable.

I like Colby. His character is a dick, but so are a lot of fighters.

Henry isn't funny. I wouldn't know if either of them are pricks.

I went from hating Colby to liking him. It's obviously an act. He is so over the top and consistent that I gave in. What's funny is how big of a dick he acts. It takes a while, but I think people will get it.

People thought Conor McGregor was an act also until it turned out it wasn't.

Maybe it isn't but it is a bit telling that he was getting let go win or lose against Maia and that's when it started.

If you look at earlier interviews with Colby, he is completely different. Conor has been the same since day 1.

I like how Covington has associated the MAGA brand with his act of being the biggest douchebag possible at all times, and somehow the Trump family has ... embraced this?

It's a weird time to be an American.

I think Conor turned into his own caricature, it happens a lot. People play the role so much their own character becomes subsumed.

In other times Colby would be considered an American sports hero. Political games have turned it all into a flavor of the month and a lot of people can't tell the difference between real life and caricature.

Trump is an ass but he is far from the biggest arsehole of all time. I think people like Stalin, Hitler, and Pol Pot are in the running for that title. The people who orchestrated the murder of their fellow citizens in Indonesia and Rwanda are also far bigger assholes than Trump.

Dude is doing an embarrassing pro wrestling heel act, I don't see why he'd be considered a "hero" in any real sport at any point in history.

Of course it's not surprising but it really lifts the veil on MAGAism to see it's originators gleeful that it's being associated with such overt scumbag behavior.

On the flip side it's comical that an understated athlete can use the hatred of a politician to get wildly rich. Who gives a fornicate about a celebrities political affiliation? Too many people, way bigger problem than whatever has your nose running. Colby and trump sure got you.

Pro wrestling heels are often wildly popular. “All American Bad Guy” or patriotic anti hero are some best sellers, it’s just he happens to be around at a time where the lines have been blurred and most people have a stick up their ass.

Within his own sport most of the fan favorites are guys who act like they don’t care what people think of them. But hatred is blind.

Trump's the good guy fighting the corner of Anerican jobs and business. Most American's appreciate that, it's just the minority the make more noise. Empty vessels as they say.

As for UFC, I hope Masvidal vs McGregor comes off.... can't say i think much of either but it would be all action tear up.

If you watch the video posted above with Colby taking photos with his fans, a young fighter asks him why he doesn't show his true humble self instead of being the heel. Colby responded saying being humble doesn't sell. I like him. Even though his fighting style is effective as hell, it's not a fan friendly style. So, he throws on a MAGA hat and starts talking shit. Next thing you know he's headlining cards and palling around with the president and his kids. As cheesy as some think it is, just like his fighting, it may not be pretty, but it's super effective.

Pro wrestling heels are popular ... in pro wrestling, where it's done with a wink and nod and everybody is in on the joke.

In real sports, people who act like complete assholes are rarely "heroes" to anyone. Floyd Mayweather got rich as hell but he's not a "hero". Most people have a very low opinion of him personally.
