Loved Boxers That YOU Don’t Like
Following on from Maggie’s thread.. this might be easier or harder.
There aren’t many boxers that the majority ‘like’..
I’m gonna start with Joe Calzaghe. I didn’t like him. Found him boring personally.
But was he more ‘liked’ by the majority?

Canelo, Peds, weight clauses, walking to the ring last against champions, general divaish dickishness.

Here’s a couple I can name but the list could be so long tbh :
Floyd Mayweather ( don’t know him personally but know others who have met him, know him and been in gym with him, absolute weak bully of a man and complete pudendum in everyway
Ricky Hatton (fake, totally different than public persona)
BJS ( publicly and privately sh it bag)
Barry McGuigan (fake, privately a totally different man than the public persona he portrays, not nice at all)
On the opposite side of the coin 2 people I know personally and well who come across wrong to some and I know rub Some people up the wrong way but are absolute gentlemen and good people and not all for public show and are really good people genuinely, could name more.

100% agree.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 16:52 Canelo, Peds, weight clauses, walking to the ring last against champions, general divaish dickishness.
The generous treatment from judges and the sheer favouritism of the WBC just make me dislike him more.
Also hate the fact that he has never bothered to learn English

His English is fine, he speaks it briefly now and then and doesn’t sound that bad. And sometimes you can tell he understands questions before they’re translated. I think he just doesn’t want to.
He really shouldn’t have to anyway.
Re: Loved Boxers That YOU Don’t Like
I wouldn't say I 'don't like' herol Graham, but it irks me that there's this assumption that he was somehow unlucky or hard done by in boxing. He had lots of world title opportunities and didn't do the business.

I never really took to Pacquiao for some reason, not to the extent his career deserved anyway

Hatton
His man of the people thing seems out on. Plus, I saw him move quicker than Usain Bolt to dash into his car when a handful of fans spotted him at Sheff Utd vs Man City at Brammal Lane after the match.

I think he is only loved by Spanish speakers, the rest of us just wanna see someone bash the freckles off himNightmare Roy wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 16:52 Canelo, Peds, weight clauses, walking to the ring last against champions, general divaish dickishness.
Edit; can I add to your list him claiming to be a SMW world title holder, because he beat the guy Callum Smith mullered in a round
Re: Loved Boxers That YOU Don’t Like
Hate is probably a strong word, but it frustrates me that promoters say that certain fights don't sell in the US because the fighters don't speak English.
Yet Canelo seems to make little to no effert to speak English and sells more in the US than anyone.
Obviously learning to speak English is only necessary for Eastern Europeans.

Like a Loma has learned English. One post fight he was using a translator, the next he was speaking himself.keirw wrote: ↑05 Aug 2019, 04:42Hate is probably a strong word, but it frustrates me that promoters say that certain fights don't sell in the US because the fighters don't speak English.

I was going to make a similar post
Unloved boxers that their mothers loved to have loved that you don't like but would have loved to have loved.
But that's just silly.

Loma is picking up the language very well, he struggles to understand different accents sometimes (as do we all) but he is making an effort.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Aug 2019, 04:55Like a Loma has learned English. I always thought Ali seemed like a bit of a prat, and the hero worship is a bit ott in my opinion.
