Unloved boxers you're a fan of
So a guy I was talking to on another forum said he was a Ray Austin fan, and I think he's the only person I've ever heard say that. Not because Ray Austin is unlikable or anything, just because he was kind of a totally bland figure in the division.
And then another guy I talk to is a fan of Chavez Jr, who I thought was universally disliked outside Mexico.
You a fan of any unloved boxers past or present?

Froch is disliked on forums but I get him totally
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
Leonard Dorin and Jose Luis Castillo don't get much love other than me. Especially Dorin.
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
I may have been in the only person in the world who was a fan of Sakio Bika.
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
Zab judah. What a style, but he’s largely regarded as a prick isn’t he.
I’ve been defending Tevin Farmer on another thread only a couple days ago. He’s one of my favourite active fighters actually
Roman Martinez, too. Been in loads of brilliant fights and almost always the B side.

I always used to look out for Mickey Coveney Results in BN
Pre the social media boom. Bit like when your a kid waiting for the footy scores on teletext.
No idea why and I wouldn't no him from Adam either. Remember he won a Irish Title though

Eubank Sr when he was unloved back in the 90s ahead of Benn 1. I loved his approach at the time. Refreshing, funny and clever.
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
Naz was marmite but I hated him one fight then liked him the next. Pre Barrera with his brothers I didn’t like him.
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
I get O‘Hara Davies
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
used to like roman karmazin
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
I liked Mike Weaver in the 80's. He was a likable guy and good enough fighter that I followed him to some extent. I was in Essex, London when he won the title from John Tate on that last minute hook.

I used to the same with Robin Deakin. Not because I was a fan just seeing if he could ever win another fight
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
I got bored in the end and used to just hope he didn't get stopped.ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 16:48I used to the same with Robin Deakin. Not because I was a fan just seeing if he could ever win another fight![]()
Remember once tho BN described him as "Classy little Southpaw Mickey Coveney" that was as good as it got hahaha
Re: Unloved boxers you're a fan of
Yeh , another Joe Bugner fan here ,, brave boxer , very talented , and mixed it with the best ,,,
But what adhered me too him was at a ametur show once , ended up sat next to him for the night , and NOTHING and NO ONE , was too much trouble for him , we were having a convo that should of been over and done with inside a few minuites , but took litery 2-3 hrs , because every second sentence , he was interupted to take a photo , sign an autograph ,or just shake a hand , and NO BODY got refused ,

Sam Eggington.
I don't think he is disliked per say, more like written off or disparaged.
I just like him because he gives it everything, never improves and does a good job of netting the leaves out of papa Hearn's pool in that outfit he likes.

Cheeseman, I don't care that he has already found his level and looks like an alien from Star Trek (a Ferenghi, specifically).
