I am looking forward to it.
Pacman, the living legend, HOF'er, truly a one of a kind! Should he retire as a king?

Yes, Porter has improved since his close fight with Thurman. He hasn't really learned anything new, he just does "Porter" better these daysgilgamesh wrote: ↑07 Aug 2019, 17:13If you're talking about Thurman, I'm sure he can't. Porter has improved. Thurman has declined, and Thurman barely beat him before. He wouldn't beat him now.KiwiRider wrote: ↑07 Aug 2019, 15:59

Thurman made adjustments in that fight, Pac wasn't landing the right hook at will after the first 4-5 rounds and I give him a good chance if there was an immediate rematch. Personally I think Keith should work his way into a title fight. Given his inactivity during his reign and the loss to Pac, I think he needs to prove his #1 contender status in the division. His last top level win is so long ago now.
I'm not even sure he can beat the 2019 version of Porter.
I would pick Porter over Thurman, unless Spence takes too much out of him first.

That is actually quite accurate. No changes to his style. He's just better at what he already did.

I don't know that Porter has improved, ugas is a solid fighter but that wasn't exactly an endorsement of improvement.

I agree, don't know that he's really had a clear showing of improvement.

Ugas is underrated, but that's a fair point.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑07 Aug 2019, 23:51 I don't know that Porter has improved, ugas is a solid fighter but that wasn't exactly an endorsement of improvement.
Re: Pacman, the living legend, HOF'er, truly a one of a kind! Should he retire as a king?
Well nevertheless he's at least THE SAME as the Porter that fought Thurman whereas Thurman is clearly not the same.

Porter has lost his last 2 fights
Waiting for number 3 to come.
With respect to Porter, he never loses his will to win, seems very stubborn in this resolve. Also I thought he would have been hurt at some stage in those two fights but he refuses to be hurt. Impressive. I'm not confident Spence will stop him.

Considering Spence didn't stop or even drop Mikey Garcia your lack of confidence is well founded.lazboy wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 02:15 Porter has lost his last 2 fights

I think Spence will stop him if Porter really goes for it. He'll get wrecked inside.lazboy wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 02:15 Porter has lost his last 2 fights

Porter knows when to take the foot off and back pedal. Frustrating fighter. Props to Spence is he stops him. That’s a statement.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 07:55I think Spence will stop him if Porter really goes for it. I can't see any scenario where it's a close fight. I lean to shutout decision, but I wouldn't be surprised by a ko.lazboy wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 08:22Porter knows when to take the foot off and back pedal. Frustrating fighter. Yes, I didn’t mean to imply that it would be close. I just think Porter will make it as difficult and as frustrating as he can and that he’ll survive. So I’m thinking decision wide Spence. Or maybe dominant.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 09:02I can't see any scenario where it's a close fight. I lean to shutout decision, but I wouldn't be surprised by a ko.

There is a reason why Porter, Danny Garcia, and Thurman didn't fight Spence when they could have. We will find out why when Porter and Spence meet.

Re: Pacman, the living legend, HOF'er, truly a one of a kind! Should he retire as a king?
The reason is money.
These guys only had two choices: take a huge risk to lose for the sake of a small payday; or face easier foes for more money.
The choice is rather easy.
Compare the historical audience figures and the size of paydays to the theory I’ve just articulated and you’ll inevitably realise that there’s a very close correlation between the two.

Thurman turned down Spence on a mayweather undercard. He never, ever, wanted that ass whipping.

I expect silence though, since it’s preferable for you to ignore my challenge than address it.

Cue EO's book about how Thurman DIDN'T avoid Spence even though he blatantly did over and overOnetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 18:43It's a fact, research it yourself honey.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 18:25

Every time Spence's name was brought up to Thurman he would get all "Uhh...Umm...our team needs some tuneups...uhh...maybe after a few more fights"
That's undisputable. I've never heard him utter the words "I want to fight Errol Spence"

Two takeaways I got from this post:
-Porter ducked Spence.
-Porter isn't ducking Spence, because he's fighting him next.
Re: Pacman, the living legend, HOF'er, truly a one of a kind! Should he retire as a king?
That is all convenient, but Once Upon A Time has no logical reason to fight Spence prior to now. Spence, contrary to his own assessment of his drawing power v Mikey, has never brought the $$$ to the table to justify the risk, when OUAT was healthy.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Aug 2019, 19:32Of course, he's a puppet.
