Muttley-Anderson...round by round...please
Muttley-Anderson...round by round...please
I would greatly appreciate any updates on the Muttley-Anderson fight
Anyone?
Anyone?
What a turnaround! Mutley was well ahead. Fair play to Anderson he took an absolute hammering.
Jim Watt is so biased towards jocks its untrue, he had is 86-85 after 9 rounds that is an absolute nonsense. I had it 87-83 for Mutley 6 rounds to 3 plus the knockdown and that was behind kind to Anderson. How the hell has Watt given Anderson 5 of those first 9 rounds? Impossible. Mutley won a lot of the rounds so clearly its beyond dispute. How did anyone else have it?

No the better man lost, muttley cud probably go further than british standards. Anderson got schooled in there.nickd wrote:Why? It was a great contest both showed they are decent fighters. Well ultimately the better man won. Mutley was better for long periods but Anderson got the win. I'm sure they'll rematch.Razor wrote:No the better man lost, muttley cud probably go further than british standards. Anderson got schooled in there.nickd wrote:Why? Yes - he was well schooled in there...
Never rated him really - even Bottom Dog and Gayminator have to admit - Anderson was shown to be very basic tonight.
In victory - he showed just how limited he actually is.
But great heart!

Anderson fought a perfect fight(apart from the knockdown of course)
Mutley's power was always a known factor but Kev's corner obviously knew this and worked their plan out accordingly.
I was shouting at Kev (well at the telly anyway lol) because he was fighting like a bum(a slow bum aswell by the way, which is unlike him) in the early rounds because he wasn't throwing his usual trademark body shots but I soon realised that if he was to throw those shots alot he would have exposed his chin to Mutley's hooks and that would probably have been a be a big mistake.
However I was more than impressed with Kev's "long game plan" so to speak( He knew Mutley's stamina limits and used them against him) and its fights like that that make me realise how important fights against Joshua Okine and the likes were to his career. (good planning to Kev's team)
Anderson is 23 years old and has accomplished more than a lot of fighters at this young stage of his career( he is on the right track to a European belt )
PS.
TOLD YA SO HEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEE
YO mutley's girl geezakiss lol ;)

Perfect fight my arse. How on earth taking hard left hooks to the chin round after round is a perfect fight is beyond me. Great heart and determination, but a very sloppy performance.kerrminator wrote:Anderson fought a perfect fight(apart from the knockdown of course)

Blinkered as well as daft..
You have no boxing knowledge as becaue of that - I will ignore you..
So - his plan was to get battered all over the place ?.
Adios - no credibility at all!
European Level?.. You are on Drugs - without the dodgy Okine fight and the 1 punch against Muttley - Anderson woud be an Area Champion..

Ignore him. The amount of shite he talks - you would think he got punched all over the place by Muttley!
must say im a bit disapointed with some of the comments here...this board was heavily pro muttley before hand(but if you look at predictions on other boards it was more even). now that andersons won fair and square, there is a lot of sour grapes.how can you big up the loser so much, and be so mean to the winner.FFs he must have done something right,he won the fight by stopping his man. give credit where its due.anderson is still very much unbeaten.

Braveheart gets banded about quite a bit these days but what else can you describe that as? Three English judges (including one from Brum), an English ref known for being one of the worst homers (Thompson - Serrat, Williams - Simpson, &c), a rabid crowd evidently made up of 60-70% hooligans, constant booing throughout (including the suits at ringside!), losing the crucial first round and getting shook to your boots in the course, decked in the second round for what looked a 10 count'er, hurt repeatedly throughout (including having a large tooth knocked clean out by about the nth powerful left hook that hurts you)... then coming back to win!
What the F.U.C.K.
His step up against Okine was inspirational to me but that tonight was unbelievable. Royce Gracie the other night in that armbar was inspirational too but as a boxing fan: tonight I'll remember forever.
Looking at it from a cold, technical view I think Muttley can come again, easily. If he goes to 140lb like he said I reckon he'd only need one or two warmups then challenge one of the big dogs down there. He could probably jump straight in but I think it'd be wise to regroup his confidence and fully acclimatise before taking the next step.
If he keeps as fit or near to how fit he was tonight he's got 2-3 years to have another go, IMO. That was my first time properly seeing him (only caught last half or so of Jennings fight -- though I think I might have saw him on a Sky undercard before... that Fats fight looked familiar...), but anyhow - I was impressed by his focus, then his resolve, his conditioning and his heart: even though he said otherwise in the dressing room, those punches he was throwing at the finish were wild and straight from the stomach. Compare them in quality to the ones he was throwing and hurting Anderson with earlier in the fight.
Hope he don't beat himself up too much over this fight, though I worry how the big promotion he was carrying will be affected - there'll forever be an element to hog the anglo-banter too far, but the sheer size of the post-highlights dissipation in the crowd made me think - how many there were actual fans of boxing? Understandable when a small pocket goes off but the booing Anderson after he'd just gone to hell and back - one of the very human traits of boxing that makes people follow it - then the way the whole place seemed to go apeshit and suddenly clear makes you think... very sad for the true Brummie fan of boxing because those are who will miss out when the dust settles (BBBofC aside).
Last word on Anderson: he might not go much further if he does not tighten up (might sound mad, but I reckon the stuff is there, it just ain't tight enough).
But I can honestly say I question whether some 'world' champions have that sort of heart.

BTW, what was up with Craig Dickson? I thought he was the type to always keep sharp - a real CONSUMATE pro - but no, he goes and fucks up his record fighting in slow-motion versus Darren Gethin, who by all accounts seemed to genuinely win. Big pat on the back for him, big boot up the arse for Dickson hopefully!
