It's not an impressive number.
Huh? I think that's very impressive.
For what it was I guess, but it doesn't make me go wow.

That's a good ppv number unless the fighters are making bank.

Seems low to me. Considering it's Whyte vs Rivas headlining maybe I expect too much from a PPV. 280k PPV is only 22,397,220 in PPV revenue @79,99.

EDIT: I used US PPV prices. UK was 20 Pounds per view. My (BiG) mistake.

Right. Whyte needed Dave Allen. Surely.

Dave Allen on the undercard helped. It must have.

Sometimes you read some priceless stuff.

Let’s not forget UK is a much smaller place than USA. Also, not many fights in the UK crack 1 million.

This fight generated £5m+ in revenue. Take away Sky cuts. Whyte got his desirable purse.

If people think 280k is low it speaks positively to what they expect from Whyte as a draw.

True. Maybe I was swayed by Eddie's hype on whyte being a PPV star. You think SKY and the promoters where happy with this number then?

They are. It’s only PPV due to Whyte’s purse demands. Nothing more.

How and why are people unimpressed ? With the numbers ? with Hearn's promotion ?
:maybe: :witzend:

TWO HUNDRED and EIGHTY THOUSAND people willing to pay £20 to watch the British Number 3 fight an unknown Colombian ?!
It should never have been PPV, but they still grossed over £5m when it's so very easy to steal for free ?

Amazing numbers.

Calling FOX’s recents numbers poor. Because they don’t compare to the 70’s.

That was what I was noting when I said the numbers weren't good. Still comparing to history.

I said fox was doing well with these pbc fights in my very first post in that thread. Want to try again?

The comparison later was ratings compared to major sports on major networks. Like I said yesterday, one or both of us got our lines crossed.

But then you said all of Thurman’s recent figures were crap compared to the old days.

I do get your point. Other sports included, Boxing isn’t even top 5 in USA is it?

I’m from the UK and I know for a fact, MLB, NBA, NFL, College Football, ice hockey are all ahead of Boxing.

Yeah

280k for White v Rivas is a good figure. Not sure what people were expecting here but whatever it was it was unrealistic

Agreed. It had a strong undercard, personally I was most interested in the Price/Allen fight and I bet I wasn't alone on this.

I compare to US historic numbers, so yes. I said I was still comparing to the past. So...smack away.
